That right Mark Zuckerberg, you tried to take on all the Drag Queens at the same time, silly silly man. Now you know better.

I left Facebook after they donated $10000 to the reelection campaign of an anti politician. I heard after the name thing a bunch of people clocked to Ello. I might check it out.

The irony is even if you ignore Drag Queens (lets face it you never can but still...:P) In this country at least, you can use any name you want without making any legal changes to your birth certificate name, so I could call myself Willy Wonka even though other legal documentation says my actual name. It isn't an offence or a crime to go by another name. Therefore preventing anyone from having a name of their choosing was always, wrong.

The basis behind it was to protect members..
bad actors doing bad things: impersonation, bullying, trolling, domestic violence, scams, hate speech, and more

though I still think this is flawed, you might be a bad actor but you are still entitled to call yourself what you will, what you post that may be inappropriate or offensive is what should be moderated!

I bet if you were to look up profiles of many pop stars who have stage names they would not have been banned. Just because a name doesn't live up to Facebook's idea of what a name should be it most certainly should not be policed.

To answer the previous comment though, here in the UK a person can use any name they wish so long as it is not used for any illegal purpose or with intent to deceive. This is what you find out when you go to change your name as part of transition for TS folks.
