Born of a Trill father and Vulcan mother, Voleron inherited the tendency for logical thought, coupled with the added ability to experience a wide spectrum of emotions. Being the son of prominent and influential parents, Voleron, from a young age, was all but assured a symbiont with which he would eventually be joined in his later years, much to the disdain of many Trills who labored for the same opportunity.

In his early twenties, Voleron expressed an interest in joining Starfleet, and at age twenty three, he succeeded in passing the entrance examinations and gaining admittance to the academy, where he excelled at scientific study. Voleron eventually joined the ranks of the youngest starship Captains at the age of thirty-two.

Although Voleron grew up in a comfortable and even luxurious environment by many people's standards, he has known adversity. One of the cardinal rules of Trill symbiosis, is that the new host isn't meant to continue the close relationships of the symbiont's preceding hosts. It is thought that continuing those relationships limits the potential for the symbiont's new experiences and contravening that covenant is seen as an extremely selfish act on the part of the host, which means certain exile from Trill and the end of the symbiont's life upon the death of that host.

The previous host of the symbiont that Voleron would eventually carry, was named Jaylon, who was also quite a young and gifted man when he was joined, as only the best and brightest among Trill society are gifted with the opportunity to be host to a symbiont. Jaylon shared a deep intimacy with a human boy named Rémi Bastian, in his younger years. The pair grew up as teenagers and into young adulthood together, sharing a unique closeness which made them practically inseparable. Jaylon and Rémi both enlisted in Starfleet together, however, two years into academy training, Jaylon died in what was widely believed to be a training accident. Due to Jaylon's young and untimely death, the symbiosis commission felt that it seemed logical to allow the symbiont to continue the short journey it had begun in the Starfleet career path. The symbiosis commission offered the symbiont to Voleron, who was already in the graduating class at Starfleet Academy. Voleron eagerly accepted the symbiont, and the two were joined.

Prior to the joining, Voleron was known around campus for his somewhat frequent sexual promiscuities with an endless assortment of women. Despite having a keen intellect and being dedicated to his studies and success at the academy, Voleron was known to charm not only fellow class mates, but was rumoured to have been romantically involved with one of the female instructors at the academy. Though this had never been confirmed, the rumour was often the talk of campus.

They say that 'the joining' changes the host, and despite the many years of training and preparation, Voleron was hugely impacted by the sudden onslaught of the symbiont's experiences upon their merging. In the days following the joining, Voleron felt compelled to reach out to Rémi Bastian, and offer his friendship in the wake of Rémi's loss with Jaylon's death. Rémi naturally gravitated toward Voleron, clutching desperately onto any memory of Jaylon, his former lover, and taking comfort in the knowledge that Jaylon was living on in Voleron. As the months passed, and Rémi gravitated closer and closer to Voleron, the guilt that Voleron felt for having denied Rémi closure following Jaylon's death by engaging him in a friendship, began to increase.

Voleron planned to break off the friendship with Rémi one night, under the old oak tree on the Academy grounds, knowing that the continued closeness would be nothing but perpetual agony on Rémi's spirit and soul. The pair met that night, while the grounds were quiet and the harvest moonlight flooded the park. As Voleron began to speak the words that Rémi dreaded to hear, a single tear rolled down the corner of Rémi's left eye and down his chiselled cheek. In that moment, Voleron felt something in the pit of his stomach that he'd never felt in his life before. Trailing off mid-sentence, he slowly raised his hand and gently brushed away Rémi's tear, locking eyes with him and examining the broken hearted expression that had washed over Rémi's paling and trembling face. In what was to Voleron a shockingly primal and instinctive act, he leaned in and kissed Rémi lightly on his cushion like lips for a brief moment, before backing away quickly in jarring bewilderment. Were these his own feelings... were these the symbiont's feelings or a combination of the two? Voleron couldn't tell and in the moment that followed, he allowed himself not to care... he leaned in for a second time, lifting Rémi's chin gently upward, guiding their lips softly together, once more. The pair kissed passionately, much to Rémi's exultance and Voleron's... confusion... mixed with a feeling of contentment for the first time in his life.

The closest of relationships followed, but that decision came at the cost of Voleron's essential exile from Trill, and doomed the symbiont to die with him.. a decision by the symbiosis commission that Voleron continues to appeal to this day. Voleron quickly found himself spurned by many members of his family for making the decision to "rejoin"; a rejection that devastated him and drove him closer and closer to Rémi, seeking comfort and strength in strangely familiar arms, where he also felt safe and at peace with the universe. Although Starfleet life saw both Voleron and Rémi apart on various assignments for varied periods of time, Voleron was ultimately offered his own command, and he of course, requested that Rémi be transferred to his ship, where he currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander and acts as Voleron's first officer.

The USS Dies Irae was intended to be sent into deep space, on a long-range and long-term scientific and exploration mission. It wasn't a desirable command, which is why Voleron was offered it at such a young age. Having escaped the horrors of the front lines, the young and untested crew have been sent off to continue Starfleet's scientific and explorative mandate, while sadly, many of their friends and fleet mates have been deployed to repel the multitude of Borg incursions and other threats into Federation space. With the wind at their backs and nothing but uncharted space ahead, the possibilities for adventure are limitless.

Okay, here is my entry. I decided to go with a an Intelligence report. I would have written more, but with the 2000 word limit I had to get creative. The last part is added, in part because of this contest. After the winner has been announced I'll expand on it.

Starfleet Intelligence File 964-B1/24F Summary Captain Afekasii-The Early Years

Subject: Julian Afakasii

Affiliation: Starfleet, Federation of Planets

Species: Human/Bajoran

Age: 32 at the time of this summary Note: Circumstances surrounding his birth and subsequent adoption may place the official age off by a year or two. Medical records indicate him to be in his early thirties, the actual date of birth having been chosen for the birth certificate during the adoption proceedings.

Homeworld/System: Riviera(Ochs V), fifth planet within the Ochs star system. Coordinates: 2.22N 1.79E

Current Assignment: Captain of the U.S.S. Dutchie, stationed at Deep Space Nine (Perimeter Security) at the behest of Stonewall See file: Stonewall Proper), after the recent takeover attempt by a rogue Dominion fleet See file: 4208.

Status: Clean

In the earth year 2378, Starfleet Science officers Kenioth S'rom and Shuvra M'ress were enroute to the Regulus III Science Academy, when they reported finding what looked like a human child in the cargo area of U.S.S Polari, hidden among the import goods the freighter was delivering to Regulus III. After notifying the ships security, a full investigation was launched, which revealed little to no clues as to how the child got there. A full sweep of the ship, analysis of the crew and passenger register, and a review of the ship's holo recordings showed everyone to be accounted for. Subsequent testing also revealed that none of the crew or passengers were related to the child. Since these events happened before Captain Afekasii showed up on our radar, it has been difficult to investigate the validity of the reports beside the archived evidence. We have been unable to find any recording featuring an adult and baby together either entering the ship, or leaving it. With the possibility of transport technology, the recordings would prove useless. First hand accounts haven't helped either, with most individuals present back then either dead or not in Federation space. The few we have managed to question all gave contradictory accounts, which we've had no choice but to also deem a cold lead in the investigation.

Upon arrival at the Academy, Doctor M'ress contacted Starfleet, in order to ascertain the next step of action. It was decided that she was to keep the child until the parents could be found. But even our agents never managed to turn up anything of use. This, of course, is something we are loathe to admit.

In any case, sources verify that Doctor M'ress began her tenure at the Academy under duress, though taking care of a human child soon proved to go more smoothly as the weeks wore on. Indeed, it was after 6 months that the doctor filed a petition with the local government for her adoption of the child, citing her plans to take the boy back to Riviera once finalizing the termination of her tenure at the Academy. With the parents of the child nowhere to be found, and Doctor M'ress' upstanding reputation in Starfleet, the proceedings found a quick success. To note, jurisdiction proved to be a quagmire of legalities between Earth and Riviera, which was governed by laws of its own, of Regulus V, as well as the Federation. With the child having been found on neither world.

Note: The boy's Bajoran heritage was not known at the time, simply because no one had been bothered to check. It was only during the onset of puberty that the ridges between his eyes began to appear, though they are not as defined as they would be in a full blooded Bajoran. See file: The Sisko Connection

We would also like to note here that during the case hearing, the child was named Julian Afekasii, a name not usual to Caitian society, though it is more common in interspecies families to bear the names of both cultures involved. Its Earth roots are unmistakeable, with Afekasii bearing a remarkable resemblance to the word afakasi, a term used by the peoples of the now submerged island of Samoa of Earth, its meaning translating to 'half caste'. But as to Doctor M'ress' motivation for this particular name? Our field operatives have never been able to find out the mystery behind this, as Doctor M'ress never gave a public reason as to how the name came about. Not even to those in her immediate circles. If anything akin to directions for this left behind child existed, we don't know. We are therefore unable to dig deeper into the mystery without alarming her or Captain Afekasii himself.

Though the Captain was never under direct surveillance during his childhood, we have managed to backtrack information through our usual channels on Riviera quite quickly. Sources close to the M'ress clan verify that Doctor M'ress doted on the boy upon her arrival home, seemingly oblivious to the awkwardness it was causing among the higher Clans of Riviera, of which Clan M'ress enjoyed a particular standing. The Clan had consistently brought forth the finest Starfleet officers since the famous Shiboline M'ress of the U.S.S Enterprise. See file: (REDACTED). To have one of the newest generation come back home to raise an alien child ruffled quite a bit of, for lack of a better term, feathers; though Julian soon rose to be the darling of the clan. Friends of the family related stories to our investigating operatives of how the boy charmed his way to the hardest of Caitian hearts, especially at the clan meetings his mother began attending regularly.

He is often described as having been a somewhat precocious toddler, attentively watching his mother hold court, and quickly learning Caitian, though his school records do indicate some minor difficulty. This, however, was attributed to the Caitian language itself being harder on the alien tongue, as it consisted of sounds and purring not akin to the human throat. Through Caitian technique, his speech impediment soon disappeared before he entered the Caitian equivalent of Grade II.

He was also known to have shown his affections publicly, something that isn't usual in Caitian character, but accepted due to the boys' status. As he grew older he became more in tune with Caitian ways, traits he adheres to to this day. His time on Earth would again change his character as the young man would begin to get in touch with the human part of his heritage, but we will delve into that in a seperate summary.

The next few years saw the arrival of two littermates, Ch'rowl and Shivan (affectionately nicknamed Boots). Shuvra M'ress had married Sh'aow T'kzin, the heir apparent of the Clan T'kzintar, an ancient clan rumored to have been a powerful force hundreds of years ago in the era of first contact with Vulcan. Some reports indicate they had been ancient even then. She bore him two children soon after the ceremony. Rumor circulating in the elite clans suggest that the next few years were regrettable ones.

Gossip tells of a change happening with Julian and Shivan during Shuvra's turbulent marriage, with her and Sh'aow's constant bickering about Julian's place within the clan. Caitian and Ferasan society are no stranger to adoption, though adopted children do not necessarily enjoy the standing Julian did in Clan M'ress. It was known that Sh'aow believed the child's status as a human hybrid was bringing him favor, thought it also is widely agreed upon that the man was staunchly xenophobic. With Julian witnessing this first hand, it would then seem natural of the psychological changes happening to the boy, and in turn his close litter-mate. His carefree nature, it is said, was soon replaced with a solemn gloom. Though his schooling commenced without note, teachers and friends noticed a quieter, more withdrawn Julian than they had witnessed before.

Ch'Rowl on the other hand, seemed unaffected, with whispers among the clans alluding to the fact that he was favored more by his father than his mother. Sibling rivalry and contempt seemed prevalent with Ch'rowl and Julian. Sharing a closer relationship with her older littermate than with Ch'rowl, Shivan is believed to have taken the brunt of Sh'aw's emotional abuse, which permeated his relationship with Julian, and in turn, soured his relationship with his daughter. He could often be heard referring to her as 'traitorous'.

Shuvra's marriage to Sh'aow broke during the children's teen years, with the clan M'ress banning Sh'aow T'kzin from Riviera for reasons we haven't been able to uncover. Our operatives all come back with the same story: Clan M'ress and anyone associating with them is keeping a tightly sealed lid on the matter. As far as we can tell, something happened to the boy and his sibling, though it would all be conjecture at this point. Court files however, show a lengthy custody battle over Ch'Rowl and Shivan that saw Clan M'ress keep Shivan while Clan T'kzintar took in Ch'rowl and subsequently disappeared off the grid. We have reason, and later evidence, to suggest that the Clan moved to First City on Qu'onos.

Note: Gathering intelligence at the time had proven generally difficult. Of course, these events concerning Caitians were not on top, if at all, on our priority list. At the time we were at war with the Klingon Empire, so information channels were sparse.

After Julian and Shivan's successful Ritual Hunt, a long standing Caitian tradition, we know that Doctor M'ress made preparations to go back to teaching off-world. She accepted a position at Starfleet Academy, settling her affairs on Riviera and moving her family to San Francisco of Earth.

Sources report that Julian had trouble settling in. But we have to reevalute these sources, as there is contradictory information about Captain Afekasii's time at the Academy. Psych evaluations mandatory for anyone entering Starfleet all conclude that the young man was mischievous, unnaturally sharp in his observations, and fiercely loyal; though his mischief often would be the cause of several incidences that almost cost him his enrollment at the Academy. He was known to prefer solitude, while simultaneously he was making friends left and right. In fact, we have ample evidence that suggest Julian was what is called a popular outsider, taken to befriending outsiders like himself while being liked by the more popular students. He was active in sports, showing a physical prowess attributed to his Caitian upbringing. He quickly mastered various forms of hand to hand combat.

But he could also be seen studying intensely. Former students, some now working for our agency, relate that he was very well read, though he didn't flaunt it. His area of interest, unsurprisingly given his background, was Bajor. Indeed, he made friends with a large contingent of Bajoran classmates, partaking in their religious activities, though in general he was thought to be atheist. Doctor M'ress is said to have been very encouraging in the young man's quest to find out about his roots, arranging for Julian and Shivan to visit Bajor on numerous occasions. We know that Julian met a man there, an El Aurian, and that this relationship began to intensify in subsequent years. Recent discoveries have unearthed a startling revelation pertaining to this man, bearing heavily on Julian's background. These findings can be reviewed and cross referenced. see file: The Sisko Connection

It is here that we conclude this summary of his early life, though we are keeping it active as new information is constantly being processed. We have dedicated a number of agents to this investigation, but Captain Afekasii's station will prove challenging. His assignment to the Cardassian sector, after careful review, has been deemed vital, however. Over the years he has proven to be an asset to both Stonewall, and in turn, to Starfleet. For further study, we suggest reviewing the file 964-B8/52R named The Sisko Connection, of which a summary has been created.

[EVENT] Captain Biography Contest!

October 07 2014
Alrighty, I'm throwing my hat into the ring. Hope you all enjoy the read!

Starfleet Personnel Record

Parker C Rayne
Rank: Senior Envoy of the Federation; Holds Starfleet rank of Fleet Captain
Species: Bajoran
Age: 32
Birthdate [Earth calendar]: November 23, 2382
Height: 1.78m (5' 10")
Weight: 65.8kg (145lbs)
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Brown
Visual notes: Maquis tattoo on left eye; last known to have removed pigment of hair

Parker grew up in the Hill Province of Bajor to two renowned, high-ranking politicians in the community. His mother, Rayne Kyriah, was on the Bajoran Council of Ministers and his father, Rayne Evain, was one of the fore-most researchers at the Bajoran Center for Science.

After a group of Cardassian prisoners being held on Bajor escaped in 2390, they immediately targeted high-ranking officials of state. His parents were both killed when he was 8. After that, he was sent to live with his uncle on Earth who worked for the Federation's temporal mechanics department. There, his teachers constantly confused his name, calling him by his surname Rayne, which in Bajoran comes first, instead of the proper Bajoran given name Parker, which comes second. Rayne eventually gave up fighting and accepted the cultural difference, officially switching the two to match Terran standards.

His uncle, overcome with grief by the loss of his only sister to the hands of Cardassians, defected back to what remained of the Maquis taking with him his knowledge of time travel. Intending to go to the past and bolster the Maquis fleet during the Dominion War, Parker’s uncle trained him in everything he knew of time-manipulation. After confiscating a Federation runabout and making several modifications, his uncle successfully went back in time to the late 2360’s.

When he arrived in the past, the shuttle was met with resistance by the Dominion and his uncle was killed, leaving Rayne in the care of a Maquis squad which was passing through the system and found the escape pod. Rayne was only 14 when he began working his way through the ranks of the Maquis during the Dominion War. He proved to be an extraordinarily skilled pilot and tactician, but found most everything else was sub-par: Rayne could barely hit a boulder with a phaser riffle, let alone a moving Jem’Hadar. On his 16th birthday, he was granted the commission of Squad Leader and given a dozen ships to lead. His fighters fought at the Second Battle of Chin'toka, where all but two were destroyed. Rayne continued the family tradition of becoming overwhelmed with emotion and hate, so he then used his temporal knowledge to return to his own time period 30 years in the future, back to 2401.

Two years later he was found and captured by Starfleet after a failed raid on a Cardassian outpost. The Federation spared him time in a detention colony after hearing his past with the Cardassians, in exchange for enlisting in Starfleet. While there, Rayne continued his uncle’s work in the temporal mechanics field, helping to expand the Federation’s understanding of the matter. Sadly, beyond temporal mechanics and flight training, Rayne’s grades were at best minimal.

Rayne finally graduated from the Academy after 5 years. His first commission was as an Ensign on the USS Everett, a Nova-class ship which Starfleet had given use of to the Department of Temporal Investigations. In this environment Rayne excelled. After several time-related missions, Starfleet recognized his unique abilities in temporal mechanics, and he quickly climbed the ranks aboard the ship becoming Lieutenant-Commander in just under three years.

At 27 Rayne was promoted to Commander, but grew more impatient with Starfleet’s seemingly blasé view on enforcing the Temporal Prime Directive. He took his objections to Starfleet Command, but was quickly silenced by an Admiral Jorel Quinn who stated, “As long as Starfleet and the Federation still exist, we see no problem.”

He then joined with the Department of Temporal Investigations as a liaison to Starfleet, to better facilitate cooperation between the two groups. From this cooperation, the Department of Temporal Affairs was formed within Starfleet.

In 2411 he used his persuasion and political influence to privately acquire a decommissioned Sovereign class. After extensive refits from both DTI, Starfleet, and a few “private” organizations, the USS Ennex launched in 2412. The ship itself gave up firepower for durability and currently serves as a temporal patrol vessel, capable of minor temporal manipulation. The officers who serve on board are a mix of Starfleet personnel, DTI agents, and REDACTED.

Rayne now serves as Senior Envoy and field agent for any and all temporally-related occurrences within the Federation. He holds the field commission of Fleet Captain and oversees three ships: the USS Everett, which was pulled from mothballs and overhauled; the USS Appalachia, a Steamrunner-class used for firepower when needed; and the USS Ennex, his flagship.

On his rare down-time, Rayne loves to cook and entertain friends. He “feels social connections keep us rooted in our own time and help us from straying too far from our Federation ideals.” He also owns a home on Earth, in the North American province. “The snow-capped mountains remind me of my childhood home,” he says.

Investigation Notes:

File 642: Bepi 113

“It is the decision of the Department of Temporal Affairs of Starfleet that all traffic surrounding Bepi 113 be restricted to Level 14 personnel and above. The system has shown heavy temporal activity and to better ensure the stability of the timeline, all ships are restricted to warp outside of the 5th planet. Under no circumstance is a ship to be above light-speed in the vicinity of the star itself. Starfleet general order 58795.”

File 298: Quadra-Sigma
“The Borg have been found to have a temporal vortex in the system. A task force has been sent to neutralize this threat. Follow-up investigations will be filed accordingly through the Department of Temporal Affairs.”

STO – Tallon Zek

When I first learned of the Captain’s Biography Contest; I was very excited, and then I became quite nervous and worried. I already knew in my heart what I was going to do, how I was going to do this, and that it wouldn’t fit the mold of this contest, well not entirely anyway. When I saw the word “Biography” What struck me was the name I chose for my STO character, where it came from and what it means to me. In short, EverQuest is also a part of my biography because Tallon Zek is one of EverQuest’s boss mobs. Our guild (Circle of Power) struggled desperately to take him down when we were an up-and-coming force on our server. Having played EverQuest for eight years and it is (arguably) the greatest game ever created; I just couldn’t leave that history behind. So, I took on the challenge of incorporating my love for both EverQuest and Star Trek Online and adapt this past and present into a screen-play style Biography. For you will not know who Tallon Zek is today, unless you know where this great Warlord came from, and what possibilities are in his future.

(Please forgive formatting issues: the website is so not helpful when it comes to dialogue indents.)
For what it’s worth, enjoy. :)

LORE AND LEGEND

(a reconstructed mythology)

RED ALERT

part one

Tactical Subcommander Owdak’s eyes shot up to the bridge screen, his normally deep blue Andorian skin a pale blue.
“Captain, there’s a rift forming just ahead of us; I’m detecting a Tritanium signature,” he announced; the rift opened a moment later. The Borg sphere emerged before the Scimitar-class Dreadnought Warbird—R.R.W. NORRATH.
Tallon Zek shot forward in his chair. “Red alert—raise shields—all hands to battle stations!”
“We are the Borg. Lower you shields and surrender your ship. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your captain will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.” Tallon raised a curious eyebrow. Your captain?
“Captain they’re hailing us?”
Tallon leapt from his chair. “On screen!”
“Permission to come aboard, Captain?” The Borg captain winked a smile.
Tallon’s jaw muscles flexed. “In my ready-room!” He turned heatedly and moved a hand across his throat. Owdak discontinued communication with the Borg sphere. Ready-room doors hissed open as Tallon rushed through them. The Borg captain was already there and smiling, as an angry Tallon marched toward him.
“Hugh, how many times have I told not to . . . you’re giving my crew premature gray hair, and some of them hair loss when you do that! I told you the last time . . . and what’s this nonsense about—‘Your captain will adapt to service us . . .?’”
Hugh’s human hand shot forward seizing Tallon’s throat; he yanked him forward. Hugh pierced Tallon’s lips with his tongue; they kissed warmly, longingly. Hugh backed away from the kiss. “You will adapt to service us,” he said, clear blue eyes ablaze with fiery desire for the man he loved.
Tallon gulped, “Oh that kind of service us . . . .” Hugh’s smile was big, and sexy. Tallon chuckled, “I see . . . well for Romulan's sake at least stop scarin’ the hell outta my crew from now on.”
“Why that’s all the fun in it, besides, you need to be at red-alert these days.”
“Why, what’s happening?”
Hugh sighed, “Tallon, the collective has a new Borg Queen, and it’s your sister from your ancient world of Norrath. Unlike the previous Queen, your sister’s infinitely more destructive with the use of her magic. She touched the forbidden Nexus Stone, the same stone you touched to come here to learn more about how the Borg invaded your realm. Star Fleet Intelligence informs us she’s mounting an all out attack on the United Federation of Planets. It’s been indicated she will use the other four remaining Transwarp Hubs to carry out a devastating intergalactic incursion—simultaneously attacking all four quadrants, and then she intends to invade Norrath. I was personally sent by Chancellor Voleron to find you. Tallon, you are desperately needed at the fortress of Stonewall Vanguard: we must leave at once for the summit meeting.”
Tallon immediately tuned on his heel. The doors hissed open to the bridge.
“Yes, Captain?”
“Subcommander—set a course for Stonewall Vanguard—best possible speed.”
Tallon seated himself; his knuckles turning white gripping the arms of his chair.
“Course laid-in and ready Captain—warp factor 12.5.”
“Engage.”

SUMMIT MEETING

part two

(The Fortress of Stonewall Vanguard; where experimental and advanced technologies, records of history and great battles were stored in the most safeguarded library vaults in the universe.)

A great hush fell upon the Great Hall as Tallon and Hugh walked the red carpet toward the summit table. All of the races were represented. Tallon’s race classification: Alien. Tallon and Huge seated themselves. Chancellor Voleron touched a consol button; a miniature hologram of Tallon appeared on the table.
“Warlord Zek,” the Chancellor shrugged, “or would you prefer Ambassador Zek?”
“Tallon—suits me, achievements are necessary, titles are cumbersome.” A smile was shared between them.
“Tallon, your accomplishments and your intelligence has not gone unnoticed by this council,” said the Chancellor, as he opened the intel-file. “I see you joined the Romulan Republic on Stardate: 91913.04.” He flipped the page. “Tallon has been promoted to rank of Vice Admiral on Stardate: 91951.34.” He rubbed his chin. “Vice Admiral in less than two months, impressive to say the least. Nemesis of the Collective on Stardate: 92290.5.” He raised an eyebrow. “Spy on Stardate: 92317.68. Military Rank of Number One on Stardate: 92336.91. Diplomatic, Science, Engineering, Military, Espionage, Development; all of them and others, rank four.”

K.E. Janeway appeared cross-eyed over the rim of her dented coffee cup; she grimaced at the taste of cold black coffee. She waved a respectful gesture at the Chancellor, and then she turned to Tallon. “Your achievements are duly noted Tallon. Sufficed to say; this magic wielding Borg Queen, if she’s originally from your realm, then how do we defeat her?”
“While it’s true; we defeated the Borg who invaded our realm, our mission to defeat Sullon will be the greatest challenge and battle in the history of your universe, for she is unlike any other, she is a Goddess of Norrath, as I am a God of Norrath. We are immortals, birthed in the Age of Elders at the cost of our mortal Diaku mother. There are three other Gods; my father Rallos Zek, my brother Vallon and my sister Sullon Zek. In our realm, my sister is also known as the Mistress of Rage; here she will be written down in your history books as something far worse than ‘Rage’.” Tallon stood up from his chair. “Chancellor Voleron, Parker, Eurrsk, Janeway, Seven, you will assist me with tactical strategies. I have devised a plan for my sister.” Tallon turned to Hugh; Hugh stood and moved to him. “Hugh, I need you to go to my realm, to Soulbinder Jera, and place your forehead to hers.”
“But how do I get there Tallon, I’m not you.” Tallon took Hugh’s face in his hands, their eyes closed and their foreheads met. Tallon imparted unto him a small measure of the magic he possessed, and when their eyes opened, Hugh understood his mission.
“She will try to kill you Hugh, you are Borg, but you must convince her.”
“I understand Tallon, I will not fail you.” Hugh closed his eyes and whispered the magic words, “By the grace of Jera, bind my soul.” He vanished from the room.

NORRATH

part three

Hugh materialized in front of Soulbinder Jera.
“Stop creature!” she commanded, and then she began to wave her epic staff.
“Jera wait! Please Jera; I bring word from Tallon Zek, he—he needs your help!”
“The great Warlord Tallon Zek—and it’s you of all creatures who bring me his request?” She punched him in the gut with her epic Staff of the Serpent. “Speak creature!”
“He told me we must touch our foreheads, and then you would understand.”
“Then we must do this creature, and quickly,” said she. A brief moment later her eyes flew open.
“Hurry creature make haste, we must fashion this magical broach Tallon has requested of us. First we must find a Memory Pearl from the depths of Lake of Ill Omen. Then finding the Great Necromancer in the Plane of Hate will be a hazardous journey for us; he posses the Scythe of the Shadowed Soul, he and only he can enchant the pearl. Our best blacksmiths can fashion the broach to hold the pearl, and then our High Shaman can bestow Veeshan’s Favor upon the completed jewelry.
“You know, my name is Hugh by the way!” he shouted behind her as they ran for the nearest portal Stone.” Jera spun around and raised the end of her staff to his face; the serpent flicked its black tongue.
Hugh gulped, “Uh, creature is just fine with me . . . .”

FORTRESS of STONEWALL VANGUARD

part four

(The Great Hall: a private meeting.)

K.E. Janeway smiled at Tallon, “Are you sure you want to do this?”
Tallon rubbed the ache in his neck. “No, but I’m not getting any younger you know.” They smiled at each other. “Hugh and Seven, are they ready?”
She placed a steady hand on his shoulder. “They’re ready. And for what it’s worth Tallon, I’m glad I got to know you. If this doesn’t . . . .”
He placed his hand on her arm. “If this doesn’t work, is there room on the grounds of the Presidio for my ship?”
“Well if there isn’t there will be when I finish with the museum curator.” She smiled one last time. “We’ll be ready when you get there with her.”
“I have little concern with you there leading the armada. I don’t know when this happens how many ships will come through with us.”
“Then I guess we’ll find out soon enough.” She touched her com-badge. “Warlord Tallon Zek is ready to beam aboard his ship.”
A moment later he appeared on the bridge of his ship. He bounced the enchanted broach on the palm of his hand, and then he gripped it tightly. Thank you Hugh, he mused with a smile and settled into his chair. He tapped a few buttons on a console. A rift appeared dead ahead. “Computer, lay in a course for these spacial coordinates.” His Scimitar Dreadnought Warbird shot into the rift.

THE BROACH

part five

Tallon gazed up into his sister’s rage filled eyes. “Sullon, you have fought many great battles in our realm, what do want of this world, more of the same? Will you never rest—will your heart never find peace?” The upper half of Sullon descended from the rafters of her Unimatrix Zero alcove, hidden well within the sixth Central Nexus Hub location. Her exposed spine withered like a snake into the her Borg lower half. Borg clamps emerged from her armor and sunk into her skin securing her together. Coal black hair fell upon her shoulders.
“Why are you here, are these mortals your collective now brother?” Her false smile raked his heart as she approached him.
“I only sought you out to give you this gift. I’m returning to Norrath.” Tallon opened his hand. The broach was breathtakingly beautiful. Tallon smiled, “Only a Goddess could wear this.” He pinned it on her black leather. She looked into his eyes, searching, questioning.
“LIES!” she shouted, and then her assimilation tubules pierced his neck. Unnoticed by her, the pearl in the broach began to spin. “I will not be deceived Tallon!”
“There is no deception,” he said, grabbing the tubules to prevent them from retracting out of his neck. “We are one now, you and me.” His eyes narrowed at her. “And we are going home.”
Her eyes widened with fear. “No Tallon, why would you do this to me?” she screamed.
He had just enough strength left to utter these words. “I’m here my dear sister to bring a little order to chaos,” and then he said the magic words, “By the grace of Jera, bind my soul.”
They vanished from the alcove, and then a moment later the entire Hub vanished; only solitary spheres and tactical cubes returning or leaving were spared, as they were not in direct contact with the hub.

AGE OF BORG

the conclusion

When they appeared in front of Soulbinder Jera, Hugh lunged forward ripping Tallon away from Sullon. Sullon shot toward Jera, black claws reaching for her staff. It was too late; for Jera was prepared. The eyes in her Staff of the Serpent glowed and the pearl in the magic broach spun faster turning molten red.
“By Veeshan’s Favor!” Jera shouted, and suddenly Sullon was encased, forever entombed in living Memory Crystal. Jera waved her staff one last time and Sullon vanished, exiled to the Citadel of Anguish where she will be guarded for an eternity by the great gargoyles of Norrath.
Seven rushed to Hugh bent over a fallen Tallon. They each stabbed his neck with assimilation tubules, she looked worriedly at Hugh. “Only time will tell Hugh, if the encrypted nanites will safe him.”

K.E. Janeway stood on her bridge; and she was prepared, an open com-link to 10,000 armada ships awaited her command. The Central Nexus Hub suddenly appeared in the brilliant skies of Norrath. Thousands of Diaku and great Orc Centurions astride winged magic breathing dragons took to the skies. They raced to the hub with powerful dragon claws ripping it apart.
“Fire all weapons!” Janeway shouted when the last of the mighty dragon where clear.
The skies of Norrath became something of legendary stories that day. And for two moons or two hundred years in Norrath (two earth days) Janeway reined hell down on the Borg.

And so was ushered into Norrath and recorded in Stonewall’s history vault this great battle.

K.E. Janeway took Hugh by the elbow, purposefully holding them back when Tallon was ushered into the Great Hall for a victory celebration. “So tell me Hugh, is Tallon as good in bed, as he is good looking?”
Hugh leaned to whisper in her ear, “Actually, he short-circuits my Borg implants.”
She sighed, and clutched her dented coffee cup to her chest.

The end

(Or maybe it's just the beginning; there are several Transwarp Hubs remaining, and Sullon is immortal after all.)

Top Secret: Dossier on S’Aihsa Bhudt
Tal Shiar Commander or above Eyes Only

S’Aihsa Bhudt is currently a top ranking officer in the Romulan Republics naval forces, with the rank of Vice Admiral. He is a full blooded Romulan and born on Devoras. The only child of Subcommander K’Laeth and Centurion Thue of house Bhudt, he was born 3 years before the destruction of the Hobus system which devastated the empire. At the time his parents were already on the run after defecting from the order. Subcommander Bhudt had been the 4th generation of his family in the order, but had left due to what he called “the subordination of the best interests of the Romulan people to the best interests of the Tal Shiar”. During their time in the order the Subcommander was a Commissar about various warbirds. The Centurion was a data analyst aboard one of the orders outpost near the Neutral Zone where the Subcommanders ships would stop. The Bhudt masqueraded as farmers and purchased a vineyard on Virinat after S’Aihsa was born. Both the Subcommander and Centurion were eventually tracked down and executed per standing orders.

During his youth on Virinat, S’Aihsa showed a tremendous amount of potential in building and upgrading equipment. By puberty he was one of the colonies best mechanics, when he wasn't having D’vex take him up in a shuttle to his old T’liss to learn about the intricate systems of a warp capable ship, he was fixing and modifying the colonies equipment. Except for the amazing water wheel blackout of 2392, when he overpowered the colonies grid with a new generator connected to the colonies main water wheel, the colony heaped affection and praise on the young S’Aihsa. Many among the colonists visited the shop of this young entrepreneur to have items fixed or improved. Most impressive of his early inventions was the “Soft” forcefield for reducing wind damage during the summer storms on Virinat. The system was still functioning when the Elachi destroyed the colony in 2409. The shield was able to dynamically reduce overall wind speed under its surface by up to 80% in some instances, protecting the colonies important grape vines.

S’Aihsa was first noticed by the order during our Elachi allies attack on the colony planet Virinat where he had been living since the Hobus Disaster. The young lieutenant turned out to be a resourceful and dangerous opponent, blocking the Elachi at every turn. His military career has been filled with interference to the plans of the order and our allies. Along the way he continually found new allies and technology to accomplish his goals. Current intelligence states that both his ships and his crew have access to artifacts and technologies not found anywhere else. His ships have used breen, devidian, and Jem’Hadar components among others. S’Aihsa has served in every sector of the homespace areas and has interacted with most of the cultures therein. His ship currently it is equipped with an advanced Reman powertrain and Nanite Disruptors stolen from the orders research into borg technologies.

The order has tried several times to bring the Vice Admiral and his crew into the order, to no avail. No agents from the order have been able to infiltrate his crew and send out intelligence reports, much less cause any real damage to him or his ship. There is currently a standing order to destroy him and his whole command upon sight. Throughout his career he has commanded at least one version of every warbird currently in production at this time. He is also known to have owned both a Risian Corvette and a Risian Cruiser. Please be aware that he is considered to be one of the highest threat ships in the Romulan Republic fleet. The Vice Admiral currently serves from the Dyson Joint Command aboard the R.R.W. D’Seret, a fleet procured Ar’Kif tactical carrier refit. He has allied himself with the Klingon Empire to gain their support for the help of the Romulan Republic. To complete that alliance he has joined the Klingon fleet of house Nagh’reD.There are reports that he is currently considering transferring his command over to one of the newer Warbirds being worked on for use in the Delta quadrant. He could also be flying any of the Reman Scimitar variants and has also commanded a fleet procured Mogai refit.

Recently the Vice Admiral has completed researches with the Joint Dyson Command, both with the Undine and Voth Defense Commands, gaining even more friends and allies. His activities have done much to stabilize the Allied Joint Command. His network of friends and allies will be the most dangerous part of any attacks on his command. S’Aihsa has earned many favors and friends from his actions. Many powerful people in both the Alpha and Beta quadrants have been aided and saved by his activities in getting to the rank Vice Admiral. From fighting on Earth Spacedock to defeat Voth to fighting the Borg throughout all sectors defeating their command ships, the admiral has acquired a varied and diverse collection of officers under him. His command staff contains officers from many different races, including the Breen and Xindi. He has collected 2 former Borg collective officers and has even disconnected another. His newest officer is Jagra a member of the Reptilian Xindi.

D’Seret Command Staff
Head of Tactical: Four of Six, liberated borg.
Head of Security: Tuvano, Photonic Officer. Second in Command of D’Seret.
Head of Engineering: Vemoa, KDF Android prototype.
Head of Operations: Twenty-Nine, liberated borg.
Head of Science: Rakek, Ex Reman Resistance Officer.
Head of Medical: Jann 19, Liberated borg.

These are some of the newest officers in S’Aihsa’s cadre, most of his older corp have been switched over to taking care of the operations of running a Vice Admirals taskforce.

Command Task Force
Strategic Commander: Tovan Khev, Romulan.
Romulan Republic Shipyards: D’Vex, Romulan. Note: Current Duties Unknown.
Iconian Gateway Research Team: Aotka, Romulan.
Romulan Republic Shipyards: Kazil, Andorian Starfleet Exchange. Note: Current Duties and whereabouts Unknown.
Daystrom Institute: Thirteen, Borg Drone. Slipstream Research, known to be in contact with Romulan Republic Shipyards, reasons unknown.
Dyson Joint Command: Nelen Exil, Voth Expatriate.
Vulcan Science Council: Sil, Romulan. Note: Known to be in contact with Romulan Republic Shipyards, reasons unknown.
Orion Syndicate Headquarters: Shithol*, Orion. Known to be spying on Syndicate for S’Aihsa.
Xindi Military Command: Jagra, Xindi Reptilian. Known to be in contact with Romulan Republic Shipyards, reasons unknown.

Several of the orders best operatives have attempted to gather intelligence about the task forces operations at the Romulan Republic Shipyards, all have failed. No reports have reached our command, at least 2 bodies have been confirmed. Any information concerning the task forces operations are to be considered Akhiy Importance!

S’Aihsa is an engineer by trade and is immensely gifted at building and maintaining any and all technologies known to the order. He is constantly known to use his ships as testbeds for new and unusual technologies. His ground teams have always used the latest technologies and most sophisticated tactics. Known for their precision and teamwork, their dangerousness on the ground is no less than their capabilities in space. His crew are very loyal to him and he has trained them thoroughly in the ways of our order, presumably both from out attempts to co opt him and also from knowledge his parents gave him before their deaths. It is not suggested to attempt to infiltrate his ship or crews, any ground forces are instructed to use covert intelligence gathering from a distance.

Analysts are currently attempting to understand the social dynamics of his crew. Normally his lovers have been male and have usually not been from his command. He has not shown any prejudice against any species as of yet. There appears to be some evidence that Kazil may be a more than casual lover, this is in contrast to his normal behavior. Not merely from the standpoint of having a relationship with a crewperson but also due to the fact that Kazil is a member of Starfleet. S’Aihsa has a deep seated hatred of all things Federation. This has to do with the destruction of the Hobus star and the resulting devastation of the empire. He blames the inaction of the Federation as a whole and in particular the Vulcan Science Council. Although the Vice Admiral sent his officer Sil to VSC, it is known that he had grave reservations about the action. It is unknown at this time what unusual knowledge contributed to his change of heart in this matter.

This brings up an important part of any file about the Vice Admiral, his motivations. S’Aihsa lost his family's culture to the Hobus Annihilation Event, his family to the order, and his childhood home to the Elachi. For many years S’Aihsa has been motivated by anger; towards the order, the federation and VSC, and other enemies of the Romulan peoples. Only recently have reports to the Romulan command shown anything else. It seems that the creation of New Romulus and the Joint Alliance has changed his outlook. It may be a good idea to concentrate on Sil, the order has several operatives at VSC. Sil may have information over what has happened in the last 6 months to change S’Aihsa’s attitude to both the federation and the VSC.

There are too many unknowns at this time to be able to deal with the Vice Admiral in the area of Joint Command, there are too many enemies in that area. S’Aihsa has too many allies in this area to assault in that location. His vessel and crew are too well trained and equipped. Once he has left for the Jenolan sphere and into the delta quadrant his position will be no easier for the order. He must be stopped in Romulan space now!

It is imperative that the order learns what Vice Admiral is up to with his team working at and communicating with the Romulan Republic Shipyards. He has too many long time loyal members of his officer corp there not to have a major project in the works. The Alpha and Beta quadrants are set to step into the delta quadrant through the Jenolan sphere, the timing is too perfect to be coincidence.

In conclusion it is the opinion of this panel that the answer to the problem of the Vice Admiral lies in capturing Sil at VSC. A team must be sent to Vulcan to capture him. We must discover how to infiltrate the communications between S’Aihsa and his team at the Romulan Republic Shipyards. If the Admiral gets to the Delta Quadrant with some of the new prototype ships being developed, he may be in too powerful a position to be able to neutralize. No expense should be considered too large to spend in resources or manpower to destroy Vice Admiral S’Aihs Newboy Bhudt.

And this is my Submission

Name: Marojin Aikune
Rank: Admiral
Service No: X-96464
Assignment: Various
Vessel: Various
Species: Betazed-Human
Age: 30

One Little Monster

The Son of Mother Monster

He was Born This Way

Aikune was born on Betazed to a family whose progeny started on Earth. At a young age it was discovered that his telepathic and empathic abilities were far more superior to others even by Betazed standards. Early on these abilities tormented him as every one’s thoughts and emotions flooded him and overwhelmed him. Once his extent of his abilities was discovered he was admitted to a private institute operated by Starfleet Intelligence that gathered youngsters from various federation worlds with intense metal prowess.

Though separated from his family, Aikune counted the years spent at the institute his happiest. He was adept in his basic education and managed to develop rudimentary telekinesis and psychic abilities. He was specially skilled in Philosophy studying and everything from the Baghavad Gita and Amazonian Philosophy to Borg’s fascination with Omega and Voth’s Doctrine. He had many discussions with religious philosophers from Vulcan and even had a conversation once with a Vorta Defector about the Founders.

But to him the set of philosophy that touched to him was the Buddhist Religion of Earth. While he knows he would never be challenged, it always troubled him that he could never explain why Buddhism fit him so well. He spoke about this with the 23th Dalai Lama on a pilgrimage to Tibet and all the holy man said to him was, “Continue to study and to continue to be a scientist of your own spiritual existence”

At age 17 he graduated from the institute and was offered to continue his studies at Starfleet Academy. In a first for the academy, he was excused from having to Kobiyashi Maru test after he argued to the provost the flaw and the fallacy of the test. The provost later admitted that he couldn’t argue against someone who used logic against a Vulcan and won.

Other than that his time at the Academy was relatively uneventful aside from one incident that got him and his entire dorm 2 months of extra duty. It involved fire retardant foam, Ketracel white, Bajoran Bartaret incense and Orions.

After graduation he was first assigned to the Diplomatic corps and requested assignment to Vulcan. He requested Vulcan because he learned early on that his fiery tempter tends to boil very close to the surface and would sometimes explode. He knows that whatever happened this would be a liability to him and hoped being on Vulcan he would be able to learn and study Vulcan emotional discipline. He also hoped it would help him hone his telepathic abilities.

He began studying with a Monk named Tosak. Aikune and Tosak would often conduct verbal spars and philosophical debates trying to get the other to erupt emotionally. In one of these sessions Tosak struck a nerve which caused Aikune to fly into a rage and unleash a mental blast that sent Tosak to intensive care for a week and damaged the room they were in.

Starfleet then chose to reassign Aikune as his temper and powers which was once seen as an asset, is now seen as a liability in the Diplomatic corps. However they are still seen as an asset by Starfleet Intelligence. Aikune was made an instructor at the institute he studied at only now he was also working closely with the Vulcan Science Academy. And while being an instructor was his official assignment. Unofficially he was assigned to run reconnaissance, and covert mission for Starfleet intelligence.

One mission was to track and liberate a Borg drone acting as tertiary adjunct to the invasion force in the Alpha and Beta Quadrants. The drone was designated Eight of Ten and after almost a year, using a team of telepaths, he was able to track down the drone. Using a device that made his telepathic abilities mimic Borg transmission, he was able to infiltrate the Borg ship, and disconnect Eight of Ten from the collective.

After that incident Aikune was on the team to acclimate Eight of Ten to being disconnected. He using the device to communicate with Eight telepathically and eventually Aikune became the sole person responsible for Eight’s acclimation. The emotional turmoil and intense connection of being telepathically linked with Eight for so long exhausted Aikune but it also seem to have tempered his rage. And the prolonged connection bonded both men. Eight made the first move and professed his feelings for Aikune.

It wasn’t that Aikune didn’t have feelings for Eight, who by this time chose to return to his birth name Dean. Aikune knew was going to be spending the rest of his life in Starfleet Intelligence and he did not want to put Dean through the emotional turmoil should anything happen to him. Eventually both men decided Dean was acclimated enough to return to active duty and was given command of several science ships to conduct deep space testing. Aikune returned to Starfleet Intelligence.

At this time there were reports that several derelict Jem’Hadar ships were found drifting from the Gamma Quadrant into neutral space. With the war with the Klingon Empire raging at full force, Aikune was sent to retrieve as many of these ships as possible. He encountered a Joined Trill defector name Ahn’dy Ko’hen. Aikune knew Ahn’dy from their time together at the Institute when he was a teenager, the two had a passionate affair before Ahn’dy’s defection. Though on opposite side of the war, the two briefly rekindled their passion and worked together to retrieve several Jem’Hadar attack ships for both the KDF and Starfleet.

Truth be told, Ahn’dy does not have much love for the Klingon Empire and was more of a gun for hire than a true KDF officer. Aikune worked with Ahn’dy for several months gaining intelligence on the location of several other ships with unique technology that would be of benefit to Starfleet and that would procure a nice profit from the KDF.

While outnumbered by Elachi ships in the Nimbus sector Aikune and Ahn’dy was rescued by a young Romulan Captain named Sondheim. Who destroyed the quarry that Aikune and Ahn’dy was trying to procure. In a rage Ahn’dy attacked Sondheim’s ship forcing Aikune to disable Ahn’dy’s ship. Sondheim profusely apologized and gave both of them a lead on an even better quarry, a 29th century mirror universe time ship. As Ahn’dy ship was disabled Aikune went with Sondheim to the Azure nebula and into the a nest of Tholians. Aikune contacted Dean and both of them with Sondheim infiltrated the Tholian base.

For the first time in his life Aikune’s telepathic abilities were useless as the Tholians were completely unreadable to him. The plan was to holographically mask their ships and through the universal translator and Aikune’s abilities to infiltrate the Tholian space dock and get the 29th century mirror universe time ship out. After the plan failed all three ships were heavily damaged forcing them to activate a special distress beacon. The U.S.S. Tina Fey, and the I.K.S. Yuko Ichihara came just in time rescuing the crew of the 3 doomed ships. Aikune, in a Hail Mary play, tracktored Dean’s and Sondheim’s ships and ram it into the Tholian space dock and beaming himself to the Tina Fey shortly before the moment of impact.

The damage allowed Aikune and a small team to beam to the space dock and get the ship out. When they beamed to the Space dock, they discovered it was not one but over 600 ships, they had Federation, Romuland and Klingon warp signatures. The team infiltrated both and pulled as many out. A mass of Tholian ships converged on them as a mixed fleet of KDF, Romulan Republic and Federation ships arrive to combat the Tholians.

While the first time ships was able to escape to New Romulus Aikune’s time ship was ensnared by a Tholian Tarantula. Aikune activated the temporal backstep but due to a damaged Chroniton regulator was sent to Earth on 23rd July 2020. Being in a mirror universe ship the timeline does not match, but he was able to patch through a terrestrial broadcast to get his berrings. There he saw a man who looked remarkably like him. The man was being interviewed on an Earth television stationed called CNN, by a man named Anderson Cooper. The man’s name was Tsar Agus, the then Director General of the IOC, Aikune’s 20th Great Grandfather.

The repairs to the ship was quick it was as if the ship repaired itself and the damage never happened. But the departure back to 2409 would be witnessed all over the globe and be picked up by the satellite technology of the time. The only way to leave undetected was to wait for the fireworks display the next day at the Opening Ceremonies of the Games of the XXXII Olympiad in Tokyo. Aikune debated himself but that night while his crew slept; he snuck down to Earth and had a conversation with his 20th Great Grand Father.

The two men talked for hours and Tsar took Aikune down to the floor of National Olympic Stadium where the ceremonies would take place. Aikune mentioned to Tsar that he doesn’t know why Buddhism fits him so well. Tsar said to Aikune “Continue to study and to continue to be a scientist of your own spiritual existence”. In that moment Aikune accepted that there’s always something that he can’t explain even within himself.

As a parting gift Tsar gave Aikune a torch from the relay. Upon return to 2409, he found the Tholians in retreat and the three factions retrieving a slew of time ships. Aikune returned to earth for a brief reprieve and an interview with the Department of Temporal Investigation. He took the torch and replicates it and mounts it on the Ready Room of every ship he commands. He keeps the original in his parent’s house on Betazed.

Captain Janice Alicia Lacy

Born in 1975, Janice grew up in San Jose, California and served in the US Navy. As a transgender sailor however, she was forced to hide her gender identity during her service. At 25, she was kidnapped by the Briori (the same race that had abducted Amelia Earhart and several other humans) and brought to the Delta Quadrant. But her ship was attacked and abandoned before reaching the Briori homeworld. The stasis chamber adrift but still functioning, her lifesigns were detected by USS Voyager in 2374. She was revived and after some quick learning became a part of the crew. When the Doctor learned of her gender identity, he began treatments, and finally SRS, making her completely female.

Janice adapted quickly to her new life as a Starfleet crew member and was promoted to Chief. When the Hazard Team was created by CDR Tuvok, she joined the team and displayed outstanding tactical abilities. When Voyager finally reached Earth, she was commissioned to Lieutenant by the recommendation of Capt. Janeway and reassigned to Starfleet Academy to train cadets in advanced combat tactics. Then she finally returned to shipboard duty under the personal request of Captain Jean Luc Picard to rejoin the Hazard Team on board USS Enterprise-E from 2378 to 2383.

***service record from 2383 to 2406 deleted by undisclosed official with sigma 9 security clearance ***

2409- Captain Janice Lacy assumes command of USS Athena, an Andorian Kumari class vessel refitted for special tactical missions. She has become instrumental in containing the Borg threat operating with Task Force Omega.

Ellatine Corvus Daryaes was born on a colony of Betazed that was chosen by Section 31 for experiments with the colonists, attempting to create a more controlled Esper, but the project was abandoned when the dominion threat appeared.
Corvus' (as he prefers) father was one of those chosen for this process, but he had only ben altered so the natural empathy had been turned into a weapon that turned others hostile towards him and interfered with him understanding emotion.
This combined with his mother's more natural emotional state as a betazoid conspired to make his childhood miserable due to the parents arguing nearly every day.

Eventually, Corvus came across a federation ship offering a free tour of the federation's home worlds as part of an effort to make the colonists of the federation feel more involved in the whole, Corvus chose to go because he found the first officer strangely appealing, though he had no idea why at first.
As the months went by, he had managed to befriend the first officer, since the ship was rather quiet most days, not encountering more trouble than an irate ferengi.
One day, after visiting the world that would become new romulus, Corvus was asked to join the first officer in the holodeck, by this stage, corvus had become aware that he was attracted to the man, and had picked up what seemed to be attraction from the man himself, so he eagerly accepted.

Upon entering the holodeck, the first officer and a few other members of the ship's crew and even a couple tourists locked him in with the ship sensors disabled and beat him unconscious.

The next thing corvus knew, he was awake in a medical starbase near the romulan neutral zone, apparently, he had been found unconscious and injured in a torpedo casing by a romulan scout ship 2 days after he went to the holodeck, it had taken him a week to wake up and almost two weeks to recover enough to be cleared from the starbase, when he managed to book passage with a human cargo ship to his home colony world, he returned to find his mother had died and his father no longer viewed him as his son, apparently the first officer had claimed that Corvus had attacked some of the other tourists and tried to force himself on the first officer.

Lost, alone, scared and confused, Corvus left his home colony and booked passage on the first ship he could find that was affordable, this turned out to be a Vulcan ship heading for earth with some exchange students. On the month journey across the quadrant to earth, he had learned that he wanted to help people among the stars himself, and after mentioning it to the students, he had been convinced slowly to apply to Starfleet academy.

Corvus spent the next few years buried in studies and struggling with his self worth and his attraction to other males, but he focused on his studies and managed to make enough of an impression that the captain of the USS Hybernia chose him to be the first officer for the graduation training cruise.

Shortly into the training cruise, crazed raiders attacked the ship and took the captain captive, hoping to hold him over the novice crew for an easy surrender, but the captain had ordered Corvus to lock on to his own signal and fire, knowing the shot would destroy the bridge of the raider ship, hopefully crippling the ship enough for the Hybernia to escape.
Corvus obeyed the order, and fled the raiders, only to run into more trouble in the form of a starfleet distress call, knowing his ship could be the difference between life and death, he responded and aided the USS Odyssey which had been ambushed by a small cluster of borg on her shakedown cruise, damaged, but mostly whole, with few crew lost, Corvus was given command over the Hybernia as a part of a new program that is attempting to get more people like James Kirk and Hikaru Sulu out among the stars so the federation does get buried in diplomacy and politics that lead to war.

Some time passed before the Hybernia was destroyed by Orion Slave traders, but once again, Commander Daryaes impressed Starfleet command enough by saving his entire crew from the Syndicate and escaping by recovering the lost USS Turing.
Admiral Quinn gave him Captaincy and let him choose his own ship name, by this point, he had come to accept his attraction and he had discovered a forgotten ship that had it's own legacy like the enterprise, the USS Seneca, First a sister ship to the 1701 captained by Joseph Hart, it had only been notable for being one of the few ships commanded by an openly gay couple in Starfleet at the time. then the Seneca was retired, for some hidden reason. The Seneca-A was a ship that was in service between the 1701-B and 1701-C, and it had been notable to Corvus because the bridge crew had all been a-typical, The captain was Transgendered, the chief Science and medical officers were a lesbian couple, the security officer was gay and an unusual majority of the crew were also bi or homosexual themselves, however, the Seneca had been removed from Starfleet official history due to the crew's make up having caused the Orions to briefly declare war on the federation, until the Seneca-A had been destroyed, with all hands lost. Corvus could not find out much about the Seneca-B, but he had found that it was a ship that had existed some time prior to Wolf 359, but no records exist with more detail, or any hints as to why it seems to have been carefully erased from all the records possible aside from a vague threat from section 31 when he had tried to investigate it.

Inspired to change the hidden and tragic legacy of the Seneca, he chose to command the USS Seneca-C, this however was the last straw for his first officer and she demanded to be transferred to a more respectable ship. "like a Klingon garbage scow!" she told him.

Glad to be rid of those of his crew that were hostile to him, he went off in the Seneca-C to aide the Romulans and Remans, eventually Unveiling a Tal Shiar alliance with the Iconians that had ties to the destruction of Romulus and Remus, this had the unintended effect of gaining him Admiralty.
He accepted, but finds the rank uncomfortable so he tends to go by "Captain" in reference to having retained command of the Seneca-C, now he travels the stars, doing his best to heal and help anyone he can, occasionally hoping to find a nice boy or man to share life with, but not really expecting to, he has however come to a point that he is open about his attraction in an effort to fight the discriminatory attitudes he has encountered, even going so far as to join the main inter-factional fleet meant for others like him and acquiring command of a mirror universe warship in case he finds a need for a more forceful, rogue approach to dealing with discrimination.
In honor of the Inter-factional fleet he has joined he has named the Terran warship the ISS Stonewall. He does his best to keep this ship from the awareness of most of Starfleet, but he has made key figures in Starfleet aware that it is not an actual rogue Terran warship so as to not have to fight Starfleet's own ships if possible when using "vigilante justice" techniques to combat discriminatory ships or operations in space.

(if there are typos or other grammatical errors, , please let me know, I have never tried to write a large bio like this before, but I got inspired recently on how to start it.)

Rasilek

[EVENT] Captain Biography Contest!

October 16 2014

Original Biography, updated for 2410 and Submittal to the contest. Thanks!

Name: Steven R. Rasilek

Species: El Aurian/Human

Age: 117 Years

Assignment: USS Deep Sky, NCC-74121-A

Background
Born in 2294 and raised on Alpha Centauri. Father (Calin Rokien) was an El Aurian refugee among those rescued by the Enterprise-B a year prior. Mother, Joanna, was human and served as a community outreach representative for the Federation. Following his rescue, Calin took residence at Alpha Centauri where he met Joanna Rasilek, where they eventually married and had 2 children.

Joanna fell ill to a rare nerve ailment while enroute home from a follow-up visit with a new race. She died in 2310 despite extensive treatment. Calin remained in Alpha Centauri, raising his 2 sons and giving them their mother’s last name in her beloved memory.

Aside from graduating with honors at Alpha Centauri University, not much is known of Steven’s upbringing at that time until he left for Starfleet Academy in 2350. However, Steven had seemed to take on his El Aurian side with regards to life span, of which his physicians predict would endure for several hundred years.

Early Starfleet Career
Steven graduated from SFA in 2357, excelling mainly in Astrophysics and Starship Engineering. He spent the first years of his career at the shipyards of Earth Spacedock where he participated as a systems design assistant in multiple starship construction projects. In 2365, he accepted a new assignment on the Enterprise-D where he worked among various science and engineering teams until the ship’s destruction in 2371.

Steven then took promotion to Lieutenant and a new assignment at Starbase 119 as Spacedock operations coordinator, meanwhile pursuing a personal construction project on the side. His resourcefulness earned from his time at the shipyards allowed him to finish design of the USS Deep Sky, an Excelsior class cruiser meant for deep space exploration and study.

Following the Deep Sky’s commission in 2373, it wasn’t long until Rasilek was assigned command of the vessel amidst a shortage of resources under the growing incursion of the Dominion into Federation space. The ship was then outfitted with weaponry vice its science equipment in hopes to benefit the war front.

Steven quickly adapted into his command of a starship through applying his knowledge of the ship’s design along with his interdisciplinary experience from his time on the Enterprise.

Wartime Tribulation
In 2374, while on patrol along bordering territories, the Deep Sky came under attack by a squad of Jem Hadar warships. She put up a strong fight before a Starfleet/Klingon Patrol group had arrived to assist. The Deep Sky was ultimately destroyed before the reinforcements could completely ward off the remaining Jem-Hadar ships. While Rasilek’s order to abandon ship was narrowly successful, nearly all hands were still lost while the Jem Hadar proceeded to incinerate many of the fleeing escape pods. Rasilek was among the 47 remaining crew that survived the onslaught, out of the 320 souls aboard.

Meanwhile, Rasilek’s father and brother had both been killed while visiting Betazed during that world’s invasion by Dominion forces.

In dealing with personal struggle over the loss of his crew, his friends, and family during the war, Steven deemed himself unfit for duty and he resigned from Starfleet in 2375 shortly after the non-aggression treaty was signed with the Dominion. He then took residence on Earth, a hiatus lasting for over 30 years.

Return to Space
In 2407 at 113 years old, Rasilek came to terms with his previous experiences. Growing bored of his civilian life, the stars called once more and he decided to return to Starfleet. Steven was required to take a series of refresher courses at SFA where he also took another degree in Tactical Studies. He once more became an officer in 2409, but with the rank of Lt. Commander. He was assigned to the USS Moontide, a Centaur class vessel where he assisted in defense and rescue during the 3rd Borg Incursion into Federation Space. Following the Borg’s defeat, he was promoted to Commander and given command of the ship by Admiral Quinn shortly thereafter. Rasilek accepted.

As the continued conflict with the Borg raged on, Rasilek served through several command assignments, and several ships including the USS Astoria, the USS Alero, and the USS Arroway. His numerous commendations on the warfront had promptly earned him the rank of Captain. As that tour against the Borg concluded, his new assignment had ultimately returned him to the Captain’s chair of the Deep Sky-A, a grand Odyssey class starship that bears the name once more.

Currently, the Deep Sky has since departed Federation space and, with Starfleet and its allies, continues its mission of exploration into the Delta Quadrant, operating strategically in exploration and diplomatic envoy in tandem with the USS Eno under command of Rasilek’s close colleague, Captain Arlo K’tzik.

Known fondly by his colleagues as "Ras", Steven is a noted and passionate musician of the guitar, piano and vocals, playing regularly with his crewmates within bands and other casually-arranged ensembles through their voyages.

[EVENT] Captain Biography Contest! General Kthor

October 20 2014
KDF General Kthor "Korby" of House Konom, is the grandson of Korby, son of Gava of House Konon. Korby was a half-Klingon/half-Human who served as an ambassador to the Klingon Empire in the 24th century. Korby was adopted by Konon, one of the first Klingons to serve Starfleet under the command of Captain Kirk in the 24th century. In time Korby married and had a daughter, Gava who had a relationship with Worf of House Mogh, now of House Martok. However, Kthor's father was not Worf.

Kthor was born with the same light skin and near blond white hair of his grandfather. Once a mark of dishonor as the result of a failed human/klingon hybrid, House Konom sees it as a mark of pride. Though House Konom has maintained good relations with humans throughout its history, Khtor is a Klingon first.
Having been assimilated by the borg and then rescued by a joint Klingon-Orion team, Kthor has strong affinity to the Orions. As his family has ties to the diplomatic circles of both governments. Kthor spent some time as a child on Cestus III and even visited the Gorn homeworld. During those years he came to respect the Gorn and even though the Empire now rules the Kingdom, considers those Gorn under his command, friends. His respect for all those under his command has created a ship free of the usual turmoil and intrigue. With the return to peace, officers of the Federation have found the ship a model of discipline and efficiency, and it has become a top requested ship for the reinstated exchange program.

During his career, Kthor and his crew gained glory for his House and the Empire, including the capture of a Breen Chel Grett Warship, he named the I.K.S. Thag’lhr, which is commanded by his life partner, Kurrozh, a Klingon-Human hybrid who has strong connections to Klingon Intelligence. The crew of the Thag’lhr is diverse and includes, liberated Borg, humans of both universes, Orions, Gorn, even a Voth defector. Any thought such diversity would prove a weakness have been repeatedly discounted by their numerous acts of bravery in service to the Empire. Indeed, without irony, Khtor often paraphrases the Vulcans in telling his fellow Klingons “in diversity we find strength, in our diversity we find glory!” As Kthor and his crew begin their journeys into the Delta Quadrant, that philosophy will be tested, and proven correct. For in embracing our differences, we embrace ourselves.

[EVENT] Captain Biography Contest!

October 24 2014
I’m not entirely planning on winning here, but this is probably the greatest opportunity to share the bio I've had on my character since inception. So here it goes:

Born on Earth from a Trill mother and Human father Justin Matthew Jovanisen lived quite a normal life. His dreams and aspirations early in childhood included joining Starfleet and captaining his own vessel. He played make-believe with a few of his friends to this end and, of course, he was the captain. Although it was a game to most, he took it as training for his future endeavors

The basement of his parent cottage served as the bridge of the USS CandyCane (a name created spontaneously by his sister.) According to the schematics of the ship, it only had three decks. The basement served as decks one and two with a hung sheet to separate them. The bathroom (head) had its own deck, upstairs and to the left. It was given that one must make the ‘whoosh’ noise as you pass under the sheet.

Con was an old style school desk, a wicker chair as the captain’s chair, and a board covering two sawhorses served as tactical and science. The ancient 386 computer was the most recent upgrade from crayon drawn consoles. Sickbay was stuffed onto the second deck right next to the brig (which was occupied frequently), and 2-forward. The second deck also had what can only be described as a generic space which was used as a science lab, holodeck, armory, crew quarters, transporter room, shuttle bay, engineering (most of the time), phaser room (not kidding here, there was a room dedicated to phasers), cargo bay, nacelle operations, and hide and seek spot. All of which were staffed by whatever friend was over at the time. Field commissions were handed out liberally.

Away missions were always a given. The equipment for them was not so much up to Starfleet regulations. Tricorders were made out of creatively colored pieces of wood, a broken TI-96, and an old speak-and-spell. Water guns served as phasers. It was a known fact that the medical officers aboard the ship performed miracles for he and his friends died a lot. Mostly from lego-laden borg equipped with wrapping paper tubes and tongs. Additionally, the USS CandyCane exploded more than 26 times. After that he ran out of letters and didn’t care anymore.

In a dramatic twist, an emergency procedure saw him joined to the Zov symbiont when he was only 19. After a traumatic two years he felt ready to start his Starfleet career. Starfleet agreed. Through the difficult task of sorting his memories from those of the previous hosts he changed his name to Rand.

Jadis Dax's Biography. Please enjoy.

Captain Jadis Kinséy Tigán was born on Trill in the year 2370, her parents met while their ships were docked at Deep Space Nine during the installation phase of advanced Starfleet weapons systems upgrades prior to the Klingon-Cardassian war. It wasn’t until the year 2385, a decad after the Dominion Wars, that Jadis’s family decided to retire from Starfleet to live the simpler life back on Trill. During this time Jadis received training to become a host to the symbiont from another Trill. It wasn’t until she turned twenty three that she joined Starfleet. She became known for ability to analyse Borg technology and be able to apply Borg syntax algorithms to increase Starfleet Academy's main computer information processing speedby 15 %.

By the time she was twenty-six; she graduated from Starfleet Academy with high distinction and was given her first posting on the U.S.S. Farragut as the ship’s main science officer under the command of Captain Jeffrey Giles. During her time on the Farragut, she was called upon by the Trill Symbiosis Commission to join with the Dax symbiont. She felt the greatest honour in being able to be the host of a very renowned and respected symbiont. She was requested to come back to Trill to undergo the joining ceremony. The experience of the joining took a major toll on her ability to processes the memories and being able to separate her memories from her previous host’s memories and feelings. After she made a full recovery and was able to travel, she returned to the Farragut and proceeded with her duties. Her newly formed persona, strong, confident and serine in, nature were very characteristic of pasts hosts.

The U.S.S. Farragut was sent out to the Neutral Zone near Romulan space in the Alpha Centauri Sector. Its purpose was to catalog spatial distortions which looked similar to what the U.S.S. Voyager had encountered during its time in the Delta Quadrant. Before completing their scan of the distortion, a Borg Sphere appeared out of transwarp and began its attack on the Farragut. Both Captain Giles and the Commander were killed, and the 2nd officer was nowhere to be found during the attack. Jadis had to assume command and hold off the the Borg as long as she could. Her symbiont's knowledge of the Borg was very limited besides what she had read during her time as a cadet in the Academy as well as from her symbiont's pervious hosts experiences.

The last think Jadis remembered upon waking up with a green lights shining around her was a group of Borg drones appearing on the bridge and beginning to attack and assimilating the crew stationed there. Jadis was caught in the blast of an exploding console and knocked unconscious. She turned her head and saw several crew members whom she knew had been assimilated into the collective. Her worst fear came to life before her very eyes. The next feeling she felt was at her neck, where a pair of assimilation tubules piercing her carotid artery, injecting Borg nanites throughout her body.

Jadis’s eye opened up on an ice world, she couldn’t feel her body, and was feeling disoriented from the massive impalement of a metal pole through her abdomen. She looked around the area but knew something was wrong, she was hearing some soft voices as if someone was whispering in her ear, very closely. She looked around and reached out her left arm and saw that it had been replaced with a cybernetic prosthesis of Borg origin. She didn't remember anything about how it got there, let alone any memory of who she was. The next few moments became a blur to her as she saw silhouettes of a group of people appearing in front of her before losing consciousness due to her injuries.

She awoke laying on a biobed in a sickbay. She attempted to move but felt restrained. She spoke out with her mechanically modulated voice that the Borg gave her. A person in a silver body suit came forth and said, "You were damaged and we have made attempts to correct this.". Jadis was mesmerized by the person who spoke to her. She had pale, golden blonde hair, with a silvery crescent of metal encompassing her left orbital eye contour. She wondered if she was dreaming or if it were a hallucination of some sort. “Doctor, Please remove the forcefield that is holding this drone in the biobed,” said the silver-suited stranger. "Drone, what is this person talking about?" Jadis thought, and then she remembered about her arm. Jadis didn't know what she could do or say at this moment of time to be able to understand what had happened to her.

Jadis' disconnection from the Collective allowed her to remember who she was, what she was and what year it was. The year was 2407; a long time has passed to what her service record had contained prior to her assimilation into the Collective. Both her parents had died as they attempted to search for Farragut’s remains out in the Alpha Centauri Sector. They were killed by the Romulan Warbird Virinat; she was reminded about the incident on Romulus back in 2387. These people and their names meant nothing to her, as all she remembers were these 9 people whom seemed important to her, but she couldn't recall their faces, yet she knew them as well as she knew herself. Then it suddenly hit her, the symbiont!

Jadis’s symbiont was injured due to the abdominal trauma, but made a full recovery thanks to is infusion of Borg technology, though she could not understand why the symbiont was not removed when they were both assimilated. Starfleet Medical wanted to get their hands on the symbiont in order to study and understand the nature of its partially assimilated state. The Trill Symbiosis Commission objected to and insisted to have the symbiont removed and destroyed. Since being released from Starfleet Medical, Jadis has conducted her own investigation into the condition of the Dax symbiont she still carries within her. She has determined that the symbiont's size is slightly bigger than it originally was prior to her assimilation into the Collective. The symbionts natural chemicals it produced had increased significantly. Jadis has theorized that with these changes to her metabolic, the symbionts healing capabilities are higher than any known symbiont on record.

Jadis refused and appealed to both of Starfleet HQ and the Trill Symbiosis Commission and made it clear that no attempts at examining or removing of the symbiont would be done as they deemed Jadis as an individual and no longer a Borg Drone. This sparked massive debates on the Trill Homeworld on the fact that the Dax symbiont was no longer a symbiont fully recognised by Trill standards. Jadis was approached by many people who insisted on examining it to see what changes were done which were supervised closely to ensure no harm came to Jadis.

The next two years after being found on the P class planet, Starfleet had asked if Jadis would consider taking up a field commission of Captain with her insights and knowledge of the Borg as there has been an increase in Borg activity. Jadis accepted the field commission of Captain and became the Captain of the U.S.S. Armagosa and the U.S.S. Olympus. Her dual command of these two ships was very rare and unusual, but she found the need to use one ship to take care of imminent needs to nearby planets and the other for escort and protection missions. She mainly commands the Armagosa for its quick nimble maneuvering capabilities in combat.

During her time of being in command, there was a transporter incident where Jadis became two people. This incident happened twice before with Commander William Riker and Captain James T Kirk. But in this case, Jadis’s twin, Jade wasn’t just a copy of Jadis, but was the complete polar opposite of Jadis. Instead of being kind and compassionate, Jade was ruthless, analytical and aggressive. In Jade’s eyes the world was too soft and she wanted to cause trouble during her stay on the Armagosa. It wasn’t until Jade left the ship and found her calling to join the Klingon Empire during their war with the Federation. Not much was certain on how much information she knows about the Starfleet protocols and codes to access encrypted messages from Starfleet. After this incident Starfleet had changed all necessary protocols to prevent possible sabotage by the Klingon Empire. As far as Starfleet was concerned, this incident was to be kept confidential and not disclosed without Beta level clearance. As such, Jadis’s twin Jade, was as far as anyone was concerned, a rogue Trill who was impersonating a Starfleet Captain in hopes to destabilized the Alpha Quadrant by fostering an image of corruption in the Starfleet Ranks. The pair have met in battle several times but neither were able to gain the upper hand over the other. The only physical characteristic that differentiates the them from one another, is the sizable scar along the left side of her face, obtained from a ship to ship combat between the U.S.S. Armagosa and the I.K.S. Vurn.

Biography K.E. Janeway

I apologize in advance for:

- Typos (That´s all the fault of my keyboard, it´s sentinent.)
- Weird grammar (I´m Bavarian after all, weird grammar is part of the job description...)
- That the story isn´t finished yet (How time flies! Sry, the great love story will follow in the next part.)

Greetings, A.M. :)

 • Name: Janeway, Kathryn Elizabeth
 • Rank: Captain
 • Age: 47
 • Affiliation: Starfleet
 • Species: Human
 • Assignment: U.S.S. Bloomington (Odyssey Tactical Cruiser)

Kathryn was born on May 20th 2331 in Bloomington, Indiana, and lived with her parents, Dr. Gretchen and Edward Janeway, and her younger sister Phoebe on the family´s farm in an agricultural park. Since Kathryn was a child she was fascinated about science and spacetravel. Her mother, a mathematician, and her father, a Starfleet admiral, encouraged her to explore things, to ask questions and - of course - to try and find answers. This lead to her decision, to enroll at Starfleet Academy after her highschool. During her time at the academy she discovered that she also liked the command training and layed her focus on the command path to become - one day - a Starfleet captain. All went well for Kathryn until this fateful day when all went wrong...

It should have been just a test flight with a new vessel. With her aboard of the experimental shuttle "Terra Nova" were her father and Lt. Justin Tighe, her fiancé. The flight path was clear, there were no irregular readings, all seemed to be fine. They had just entered the orbit of Tau Ceti Prime as suddenly the alarm klaxons sounded and the shuttle was unmaneuverable. It was obvious that they would go down on the planet´s surface, although the crew tried all to avoid a crash and land the shuttle. But it was too late. The ship crashed and was torn into two pieces.

As Kathryn regained again consciousness she saw that the cockpit section of the shuttle has crashed into the icecover of a nearby lake. And inside the cockpit her father and Justin were trapped. Although she was seriously injured herself, she tried everything to save them. The part of the shuttle which had landed on hard ground had still energy, so she started to work on a transporter device to beam them both out. But time ran out. As she finally got the device to work the cockpit was drown. Her father and Justin were dead. Kathryn was rescued two days later. An orefreighter picked up the signal which was sent from the automated distress beacon.

After the accident Kathryn suffered from a severe depression for months. She blamed herself for her father´s and Justin´s death. She was conviced that, if she had worked faster, both could have been saved. It was her sister Phoebe who finally brought her back to life, even with a theurapeutical inappropriate method. Over six months after the accident Kathryn accepted that it wasn´t her fault and that blaming herself much longer wouldn´t help anybody. She decided to continue her studies at Starfleet Academy and to follow her father´s footsteps. Kathryn gratuated in 2353 from the Academy with degrees in quantum cosmology and astrophysics. Several assignments followed. She was promoted to Captain in 2364. In 2371 she became Commmanding Officer of the U.S.S. Voyager, a Intrepid class vessel. The ship´s maiden voyage should lead them to the Badlands. Kathryn´s mission was to search for a Maquis ship, which had her security chief Tuvok as an undercover agent aboard.

On their arrival at the Badlands the ship´s sensors showed some strange readings. Obviously the ship was scanned by a tetryon beam and in the next moment it was struck by a forceful wave, which caused heavy damage to the ship and the crew. Many crewmembers were injured, the first officer, helmsman, chief engineer and the whole medical crew were killed. And - if this wouldn´t be worse enough - they weren´t in the Badlands anymore. They weren´t even in the Alpha Quadrant, but in an uncharted space named the Delta Quadrant, 70000 light years away from earth. 70000 light years away from their homes, families and friends. The Maquis ship they were searching for in the first place, suffered the same fate. It was also pulled into the same area of space and had lost many members of its crew as well.

There would have been a fast way back through an array, which belonged to an alien entity. The entity, named The Caretaker, protected the Ocampa, a species from the Delta Quadrant, against their enemies, the Kazon. But The Caretaker was dying - which was the reason why he pulled ships into the Delta Quadrant. He was searching for a mate. He hoped that their offspring would proceed to fulfill the duty as a protector for the Ocampa. Kathryn had to make a decision: Using the array to get fast back to the Alpha Quadrant would have meant to leave the Ocampa without protection. Or destroying it to make it impossible for the Kazon to use its advanced technology. It wasn´t an easy decision for Kathryn, after all she was the captain and had a responsibility for her crew. But she also was a Starfleet captain who had to protect the weak and she remembered the words of ambassador Spock "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few". Kathryn ordered the destruction of the array.

Both stranded ships faced now a 70-year-journey back to the Alpha Quadrant. Kathryn and Chakotay, the Maquis captain, decided to combine the two crews on Voyager under Kathryn´s command. It wasn´t easy in the beginning but over time the Maquis and Starfleet crewmembers got along. The next years were eventful, they charted and explored the areas they travelled through, they made friends but more often they met enemies who attacked Voyager without reason. There were times when Kathryn just wanted to give up and settle down on a suitable planet. The responsibility for almost 150 crewmembers and her ship, travelling with always tight resources through a more often hostile than friendly quadrant without backup from Starfleet and her loneliless took it´s toll. Starfleet knew that they were out there - Voyager was able to contact them through a Hirogen communications array - but of course couldn´t send any help. The possibility to contact Earth raised at least the crew´s morale. Not so Kathryn´s. She learned that Mark, her fiancé, had married his office assistant because he thought Kathryn was dead. Kathryn felt utterly lonely.

All changed when Voyager encountered the Borg which were at war with Species 8472. All changed when Seven of Nine, Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix Zero-One, came aboard Voyager.

Captain Onyx of the U.S.S. Rembrandt

Onyx was born in 2386 in a Talaxian asteroid colony, an outpost established by refugee Talaxians some 40,000 lightyears from their former homeworld. As a child, Onyx listened to the stories of one of the colony's councilors, Neelix, about his intrepid adventures on a lost starship which traversed half the galaxy, looking for a way home to a distant planet called Earth.

Having always considered New Talax his home soil, Onyx was one of the few inhabitants who opposed the move of the colony to another asteroid field in the Entaba System. He banded with others who had doubts about the decision and stayed at the former colony site for more than two years after most other Talaxians had left. In 2405, however, Onyx and the others followed in the footsteps of their kin, as loneliness, dwindling resources and hardship finally payed their tribute.

On New Talax, Onyx had learned to maintain old hardware, a skill he picked up from his parents, who made a living by repairing and constructing mining equipment. But it was on the Bataxxa's journey, that he mastered his engineering skills, patching the worn ship together after run-ins with spatial anomalies and hostile aliens alike. In late 2407, en route on the final stretch of their voyage, the Bataxxa was pulled into an ancient Vadwaaur underspace corridor, leading to a remote star system in the distant Beta Quadrant.

Convinced of their soon demise, the crew sent a last desperate distress signal, which was intercepted by a small fleet, led by Admiral Kathryn Janeway. Janeway, who was studying the effects of the Hobus Supernova two decades after its eruption, was delighted to greet a Talaxian ship on her side of the galaxy. She proposed a method to reopen the underspace corridor and grant the Talaxians passage back to the Delta Quadrant. Yet the experiment failed, owing to subspace irregularities, left behind by the shockwave of the Hobus system's dying sun.

Any additional attempts were cut short, as the fleet's resources were diverted to the many war theaters, emerging throughout the region. Onyx and the rest of his friends spent three months on various starships and facilities, helping Starfleet wherever they could. In early 2408, Onyx was granted asylum on Earth and was able to greet his former paragon Neelix via the Pathfinder communication network, exchanging stories on the Bataxxa's illustrious journey and the thriving colony on the other side of the Milky Way. Encouraged by both, Neelix and Janeway, Onyx enrolled in Starfleet Academy, catching up on Starfleet protocols and regulations. Within a year he graduated, owing to his outstanding engineering expertise and life-long experience in the field.

For a last training mission, Onyx was assigned to the U.S.S. Rembrandt, shortly before the Borg invaded Vega Colony. He took command of the ship after her senior crew perished in the attack. After he received a field promotion and was allowed to retain command of the Rembrandt, Onyx swore to support the Federation in its many struggles, in the hope that one day Starfleet might return to its ways of exploration and scientific curiosity. A way, that he had heard so much about in Neelix's stories during his youth.

Starfleet Intelligence File #19911025
Laxia
Race: Female Talaxian
Age: 23 Years
Current Assignments:
- Lieutenant, agent in service of Starfleet Intelligence
- in command of the Blockade Runner Escort (aka: Steam-ship) U.S.S. Redshirt
- occasional acting as liaison between the Federation and Talaxians

Laxia was one of the many Talaxians who left their homeworld after a devastating war. She had been a soldier in the war and one of the lucky to survive, but she couldn’t stay on Talaxia anymore, having lost everything but her own skin, including her lover. She worked as a mercenary for several years, but not without principles. Where she could, she helped people in need. Her skills improved from not only being able to stand her own in a fight to smuggling, assassination, engineering and basic science. She discovered she had a knack for engineering and decided to teach herself as much as was possible. It greatly benefitted her former ship, a freighter. It was not meant to be however, as her ship was destroyed by the Vaadwaur. The U.S.S. Amatorius, under command of Vice Admiral Calanthe, destroyed the Vaadwaur ship before they could kill Laxia, but her ship too far gone to save.

VA Calanthe offered Laxia the chance to join Starfleet. Since Starfleet and Laxia shared similar principles, she accepted and went to the Academy. There she followed a crash course in Federation technology. She surprised her teachers however, when she was able to learn everything in two months a normal student would learn in three years.

It was at this point Starfleet Intelligence became actively interested in her and offered her extended trainings in exchange for her services. She accepted this too. Her reasoning was that if she “could do good things on my own and better things with Starfleet, I can do great things with Intelligence backing me up”.

Her enthusiasm, a personality trait of the Talaxians, proved true when she discovered a group of Undine Changelings had infiltrated Intelligence Academy. She was able to contact VA Calanthe and the two of them and VA Calanthe’s away team were able to capture the five Changelings, without them even suspecting anyone knew who they really were.

Both the Academy Director and VA Calanthe were able to convince Intelligence Leadership that Laxia couldn’t learn anymore at the Academy. Laxia graduated early, got promoted to Lieutenant and was sent to the U.S.S. Amatorius. On VA Calanthe’s ship, Laxia was able to increase the power flow through the whole ship, which was quite genius of me, really.

Edit by Vice Admiral Calanthe: Lieutenant Laxia has been put on report for hacking into a secured console and editing classified information. However, she is not wrong and I will leave her edit in.

Several months later, the U.S.S. Amatorius was send into battle against the Vaadwaur, together with several other Federation ships. The U.S.S. Redshirt went in first (it was captured by Section 31 without the flagship knowing, see Intelligence File #20141031 for clarification). VA Calanthe ordered Laxia to beam over with a small away team and take back command, since the U.S.S. Redshirt was vital to the mission. Laxia prevailed and she was allowed to stay in command U.S.S Redshirt. It has been three weeks since she took command and she is moving quickly to her promotion.

Ylis
Nathanite
Federation Ambassador
U.S.S. Socrates

"Ylis is odd."

This is what the cadets whisper whenever the towering amphibioid enters the room. They clearly skipped out on cultural-sensitivity training at the Academy. Apparently, they are also ignorant of the incredible sensitivity of Nathanite hearing.

Sometimes they remark on the Federation ambassador's penchant for speaking in questions, assuming he must perpetually be either confused or sarcastic. It never occurs to them that universal-translator technology is not all it's cracked up to be, that Starfleet has been working a full thirty years to break the code. Only recently has Ylis's chief xenolinguist aboard the Socrates made modest progress in translating the Nathanite language into a mode more appealing to the ears of the average Federation citizen.

Other times, they'll notice how Ylis fidgets, scratching at his diplomatic vestments. Perhaps if they knew that, on Nathanus V, no one wears clothing, and that the handful of Nathanites inhabiting Federation space have overcome great physical discomfort simply to appear in public clothed, then they would treat the ambassador more graciously.

If only they simply knew Ylis's story. Or the story of the Nathanites, for that matter - the supernova of the star Omicron-37 one million years ago, releasing a stream of nathon particles into the orbit of Nathanus V four light-years away, a phenomenon which rapidly sped up the evolution of Nathanties, from creatures resembling the extinct axolotls of Earth to a sentient, space-faring society.

Ylis was ten at the time of first contact, and from then on, he knew his path would carry him through the stars. He begged his three fathers for an educational opportunity that would set him on this path. At twelve, he enrolled in the fledgling Nathanus Institute of Exoanthropology. He graduated with honors at fourteen, and then applied to Starfleet Academy. The powers-that-be at the Academy were hesitant to accept someone so young, but at last relented when the Nathanus Egalitariate informed them of how rapidly Nathanites develop, and that, actually, Ylis was slightly behind the curve for his species.

During his Academy years, Ylis was noted for his curiosity. At first, this was chalked up to his language difficulties, but later, his professors noted that the tall blue student in the back of the class possessed an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. They considered that this curiosity, combined with his relaxed and equanimous demeanor (aforementioned factors aside), made for the perfect Federation diplomat. Thus they encouraged him to enroll in the diplomatic corps after graduation.

But Ylis was not comfortable with the idea of forestalling his dream of exploring space whilst cloistered in yet another set of classrooms and offices indefinitely. So Starfleet struck a compromise, giving Ylis command of his first ship, the U.S.S. Thales, whilst allowing him to develop his career in the Federation diplomatic corps from afar.

Ylis’s first missions took him to the Delta Volanis cluster. Here, he made first contact with several species, including the Totarans, the Rimbalans, and the Maedwii. He also brokered a peace treaty between the Fegrans and the Zaji.

But peace would not be the norm for long: war broke out between the Federation and Klingons in 2408. By this time, Ylis was captain of the U.S.S. Socrates, a powerful Odyssey-class starship built for defense. This commission was originally intended to allow Ylis’s crew to maintain diplomatic arrangements in more dangerous sectors of the Alpha and Beta quadrants. But now, Admiral Quinn called Ylis and his ship to fight on the frontlines for the Federation.

All the while, Ylis was deeply disturbed by what he saw as a needless loss of life. At times, he even contemplated rescinding the Federation citizenship Starfleet accorded him and catching the first ship to the Orellius Sector so he could return to a life of simple contemplation on Nathanus V. But his closest confidantes convinced him to maintain his commission, arguing that a quick end to the war would return peace to both the Federation and the Empire.

Now, the war is behind Ylis, and what lies ahead is the wonders of the Delta Quadrant. Admiral Tuvok has called the Socrates to a diplomatic mission of indefinite duration, allowing Ylis and his crew to resume what they love most – to learn, to discover, and to make peace.

And still, Ylis hears the snickers when he enters a room. No matter. He holds his head high, for he knows how far he has come, and where he’s going.

I had lost most of my teeth by the time I was 12. They waited for me outside the gates and called my parents perverts as my face smashed against the cold concrete. No one really did anything about it, because all on Trill agreed it was my parents fault rather than the ones with the bats and knives. Except mother. She went round to their parents and gave them a piece of her mind. She lost a tooth or two herself.

The doctors at least took pity as they patched me up. They said if I was lucky I wouldn't inherit any of my parents deviance. I replied that I thought I'd be lucky if I was half of what my parents were. My father was in Starfleet defending us from the Dominion and my mother designed flood defences to defend or cities from typhoons. I hoped my father would see me become a captain myself.

My father died when I was 10. He came back home ill with something. We knew it was hopeless a few days before the end. I got in from school and mother was talking with the doctors. She turned to me and tried to tell me, but just burst into tears. I asked if he would come back: as I had been told mom and dad came back in different bodies and remarried before they had me. The doctors looked at their feet nervously. Later my mother told me that because they did it last time they could never have another life again, even if they agreed to stay apart. And that, they would never, could never do. She never left his side till the end. I watched from the door and occasionally brought them drinks. I was too afraid to stay. I didn't know what I was supposed to do. To say. To feel.

After he went, I held his hand. It was cold as a stone. I ran. Ran though the night. That night, asleep, I thought of him. But where there was once a memory of a birthday, there was a cold hand. Where we had built a model starship, there was a cold hand. I never visited his grave, to protect what was left of him in my mind. Mother never understood. We drifted. I thought more of him, I canonised him in my memory as I prepared to go off to Starfleet. My mother's mourning never ended and I became unimportant.

Years later, a lecture was given at my school to potential Starfleet cadets by dad's old first officer. I went up to him at the end to talk about my father but the more he talked of him, the more of a stranger dad sounded. What I had thought was genius; was chance. What he adored; I had never heard of. I saw so little of him, did I even know him? That evening I got a call. Mother had been in an accident.

They didn't know if she could hear. If I had something to say, it should be now. With years of silence behind me, I thought it would all blurt out. It didn't. Just like she never talked to me when dad died. We both could never get our feelings off or tongues. I heard two doctors outside talking, saying a reminder of her crime was the last thing she should have in front of her as final hour approached. The other replied that it gives her an opportunity to repent. I went out there and gave them a piece of my mind. Coming back in, I could see a smile on her face like she had heard. Despite our distance, I am far more like her than my dad, more than I'd ever had admitted. I took her home. I could see her gazing at the pictures of the family on the wall. If she couldn't heard, she could at least see. I took one down, embraced it and laid out next to her. She understood, I thought.

But there was another option. Dad's first officer was a doctor and is more accepting than the spiteful enforcers of this society's taboos. We would give her another life.

Now she understands, and I do too. I finally know first hand the father that was taken from me and the full story of why they did what they did. Life has found a way in this frightened world, though I doubt I'll ever be welcome to walk its egg shell of again. That is my sacrifice and my honour. I see my hero for all his flaws and am proud of who I come from. I will do what it takes to stand up for the downtrodden and remember the soulful face of all tragedy and triumph. That is home, and that is what I pledge to protect.

That concludes my personal statement for academy entry.
