Xcom enemy Unknown

September 23 2012
Just noticed I posted this thread in the wrong forum
The original X Com is easily in my top ten list of the greatest games of all time. I lost entire weeks to that game, it was so deep, detailed and comlex. Not to mention I loved the science and the research.
Well Valve are about to release a new updated version (it's out 11th October). This is the first game I have been excited about in over a year. I just wondered if there was anyone else out there with 11th October marked in the calendar, counting down the days with the same excitement of a kid counting down the days until xmas?

Have you had a chance to play it? I put it on my Steam wishlist and will download the demo later on to see what it is like.

There is an xcom game that is a fps, but its not enemy unknown. That one was made by a totally different company.

Yes playing it now, it's pretty darn good. Nice and detailed story is pretty much along the same tlines. It is a bit dumbed down and less complex than the original but I'm enjoying it a lot all the same.

Just finished enemy unknown.

Ooooooh I love the ending so much! :D

Mostly because my squad leader was my most favourite guy who was also my most powerful psyker so was the star of the final cutscene. My other two favourite guys also got to be in the cutscene, too! :D Such a spiffy ending! :D

So yah.. If your favourite person doesn't get to be one of your first psykers, it might be worth it to just find a psyker that's the same class as them and re-customise them to be your favourite person and re-level them. :3

*edit*

Though my sniper was the real star of the show. Man that target squad assist ability is awesome. The game bugged and half of my squad, including my sniper got trapped outside of the final battle. Thankfully, though, he could still shoot in through the open door through which he could not enter. Hah, he kicked what could have been a game breaking bug right in the face. xD

Oh yah, to avoid said game breaking bug. If you come upon a door that has a narrow walkway on either side where your troops can only stand single file... DON'T whatever you do line them up single file in the door. The next turn, anyone outside the door gets trapped and can't go through.

Nice finally got time to play through the last mission. I did enjoy the last cutscene as well. I hear there will be some downloadable content released soon. I'll have to play through that too.
