When I was very young I woke up in the middle of the night. I don't really remember why, don't really know if I knew why I had awakened then, either. I rolled over and saw my father standing at the foot of my bed; at least I thought it was my father. It was dark and all I thought I saw was his white t-shirt tucked into his white y-front briefs.

I sat up and rubbed my eyes, "Daddy?"

Nothing.

"What are you doing, daddy?"

Still no response.

"Is everything ok?"

Nothing, still.

"Daddy?"

Still having no response, I turned to turn on my little puppy lamp, but when I turned back there was no one there. Then I realised that there would have been no room for him to stand between the foot of the bed and the bureau at the foot of my bed. I remember getting out of bed and going to my parents' room to see if my father was in bed. I think I probably crawled in with them to go to sleep after that.

Until I was in my late teens, doors and cabinets would open and close by themselves. Sometimes I would blame it on gusts of wind, or maybe my opening or closing a different door, but other times I couldn't come up with a reason it was happening.

When I was a teenager, I believed I could feel the emotions of people around me; I remember very vividly I had walked into the library at the local college (don't remember why, I had no real reason to be there) and felt overwhelmed by feelings of stress, anxiety and fear. I had to leave and walk away for the feelings to subside.

Just a year or three ago I was shocked awake by a very raspy very frightening voice calling out my name. FREAKED me out. Spent ages going around my house trying to make things reproduce the noise, but never could.

Orrrr, maybe I'm a mental. :p

I am with a group called American Paranormal Investigations. We do ghost hunting here in Sacramento and are family members of TAPS, the group that does investigations on SCI-FI.

Put me in the Scully camp. None of the above, and a skeptic.

(But they make for good stories.)

None of the above and a skeptic. I get feelings of deja vu all the time, but the current scientific hypothesis is that this is actually a 'fake' sensation caused by your brain actually recording an experience as a memory before you consciously recognize the experience. This could lead to the feeling that you've experienced something before when you clearly haven't.

Not saying that the UFO or alien thing couldn't happen, but so far I've yet to hear or see any experience that doesn't sound like a load of bullshit.

I am a skeptic, but even with that several years ago, my then partner and I vacationed in Jamaica. While there we took the tour of Rose Hall. Nothing out of the ordinary while we were there, but after returning to the states, and getting our film developed we had half a dozen 'ghost' pictures.

I don't *know* they were ghosts, but I know we didn't doctor them, and I know there weren't people in the pictures when we took them... so.. yeah. Creepy!

Put me in the skeptic column. Though i do love the neat paranormal viral videos... it's always fun to see how many people are defending obvious fakes.

Every once in a while though, there's one I can't explain.

Agree. But "unexplained" is not the same as "inexplicable." It just means we're moving to the edge of science's comfort zone. :)

I had the sensation of feeling outside my body during a massage once. I don't think I'd go so far as saying that I actually was out of my body, but I have trouble knowing quite how to explain the whole experience. I have a scientific mind, but I also believe the universe is bigger than our comprehension, because we are finite beings.

Ran across a very interesting article by the good folks at cracked.com that offers me a very sciency, if not slightly creepy, explanation for paranormal sightings. :3
