Been playing a bit on a different server with some co-workers.

I can say I don't think I'll be buying this one. LOVE the idea of a practically fully customizable class and skill set, and crafting actually feels a bit more hands-on and fulfilling, but the armor and weapon dmg accumulation is a bit discouraging, and I REALLY don't need to be obsessed with another Final Fantasy MMO. I'll be playing till the end of Open Beta, but I don't plan on picking this one up until at least 6 months down the road.

WORST MMO EVER! Graphics are amazing....., controls are shit, UI is shit, game play is shit, quests are shit, combat is crap too! WoW!! I was so looking forward to this game for the past year. I am so disappointed it upsets my stomach.. Yes I know they are still in BETA but regardless the game feels like its being launched for the PC community to work out all the issues while they patch, fix and revamp all the known issues for PS2 launch in March 2011 on our dollar.

It is actually coming out for the PlayStation 3 in March 2011 not the PS2.

I have no problem with the controls or the UI. In fact, I think the UI is amazing in this game compared to FFXI. It is also customizable if you take the time and effort to do so. Quests are actually very easy and enjoyable to do. Unlike STO where the quests seem so repeatative and uneventful. The combat does take some getting use to. It is slow compared to other games, but faster then it was in FFXI.

i still think thats locked. you can move windows around though :P and if you have a gamepad you can set the keys on that. unfortunately i still can't figure out how to map keyboard keys.

My only problem is targeting in battle. After something dies you kinda stay locked onto it, and targeting nearest sometimes selects yourself even if somethings right next to you. i wish i could turn that off... ugh. i've died alot because things get outta camera range and attack me, and i've got no way to target them quickly :-\

Even so. I do enjoy alot of what the game has to offer. Haven't crafted yet. Still figuring everything out. I try to catch you guys on but my list always shows you guys as offline :-\

ok, aside from everything else, the trouble I have is the same trouble I had with FFXI. You can spend literally 15-20 minutes going from one npc on one side of town to another npc on the other. Towns are pretty but a huge time sink. It's why I stopped playing FFXI. Am I missing something? Or is "part of the fun" of FF games just walking around enjoying the scenery?

I never really played FFXI ... I gave XIV a try the other night because my better half is in love with the game but I have a few grievances.

1) I can't jump!?!?!?! You mean to tell me that this two foot ledge is so detrimental to my health that I can't jump down/up and instead I need to spend thirty seconds running around it?
2) Why are you making me run five minutes to one spot, only to spend two minutes to do a single quest and then turn and run five minutes back to that spot? Ugh?
3) Maybe this is just me but does the mouse control in this game really operate that poorly? :( Makes me wonder if its being designed for a controller with the mouse as a second thought since usually a mouse is much quicker/more accurate. Boo.

I will give the game the point that it is gorgeous. Too bad I've spent more time in cut scenes or running from point a to point b than playing. I'm not anticipating adding this to my gaming rotation. :/ I can't figure out if all these simple things (i.e., jumping) I've just taken for granted in other games or if this is actually part of the allure of games like this. It's almost an antithesis of WoW and I'm beginning to think that's part of the appeal.

The lack of jumping is one of the first things I'd noticed. It really is annoying when the open areas outside are full of one foot hills that you have to walk round to get down or up them.

To be honest, my interest in this title has been murdered. There's nothing but stress to find here.

Too many disappointments for me and reading through the thread makes it obvious I'm not missing anything (I still have yet to get in. The latest disappointment is that the launcher refuses to contact the server to check the version.) so I'm just going to uninstall the client.

I'm diving back into FF:XIV , at least until SW:TOR comes out. I tried it at launch but there were lots of issues. I have been keeping tabs on the changes being made and it looks promising.

Is anyone else interested/Playing? If so what server & character name, lets meet up!
