Assistance needed: Clean up our forums!

Our forums have started to get larger and larger, with many out dated and no longer necessary threads that should be removed and deleted. The forums take up about 7 MB in our site database, which while it doesn't sound like a lot, is quite a bit for a database.

I'd really like to start trimming this down, but we need a human touch. We could easily delete any thread that's more than X days old, but this could potentially delete threads that are either important to the function of Stonewall Fleet or our Fleet history.

The way it'll work is I'll give those that volunteer Moderator abilities on the forums including the 'move' ability. We'll dole out the different forum sections and each person will go through the threads and move those threads to the Archive section. Once we're finished, the Officers and I will go through the Archive and permanently delete the threads that aren't important.

Quick question: should those of us that have written stuff on the Holodeck move our older material to somewhere off-site, and just link to it in a master thread?

Eric, I think the Holodeck stories are fine where they are. As Nick said anything that is important will be kept no matter how long ago it was posted. The stories should be easily accessable as new members will enjoy reading them as much as we have. :)

Seeing as that I'm not planning on questing much until Season 2 goes live on Holodeck and am not particular interested in spending much time on Tribble now I've poked about it a bit at the interesting bits (and I have almost the entirety of this week off work), I'd be very happy to help tidy up.

In cleaning up the forums, would it be a good idea to add one more category under Stonewall Fleet entitled something like "Main Engineering" or "Engineering Deck".

Under this category would go all of the technical things, including game client issues, browser issues, ventrillo information and issues, etc.
