Oh yeah, also definitely felt like "The Idiot's Lantern" too, to the point where I was half-expecting The Wire to be 'the client'.

ALSO, did everyone hear the news about who is confirmed to be returning for the 50th anniversary special? It's not a big surprise, but it's nice to know it will be happening!

Bells of Stain John wasn't too bad, but I was not crazy about Rings of Akhaten. It was too over the top, even for Doctor Who. The whole "We never run away bit" was all nice and cool until he was like "But now we have something precious, so we run away very fast!" while completely ignoring the fact that an entire system of intelligent beings would be destroyed by this 'god' which would include, I imagine, several million "precious" children. Also, after he basically killed the sun, how did the planets in the system have enough heat to not became completely frozen and killing everyone?

Rings of Ahkaten was a very mixed bag for me. I agree that it was over-the-top and rather non-sensical in the parts you mentioned (though, I interpreted the "never run away unless we have something precious" differently).

However, that said, I totally got teary-eyed when the Doctor started yelling at the space parasite. For some reason, the Doctor crying gets me going, and I don't usually cry during TV and movies.

I kind of feel like the whole episode may have been a flimsy premise to have the Doctor and Clara put their "I'm so lonely!" cards on the table for each other. I'm still looking forward to the rest of the season, but Akhaten confirmed that Moffat has run out of steam has a showrunner. Really looking forward to someone else taking the helm (and, if reports are to be believed, a new Doctor come year's end).

I am a little iffy about the past two episodes. I love Doctor Who but feel a little let down.

I somewhat liked this weeks episode. Any time they bring a classic villain back I get weak in the knees. That being said, I thought the episode was too fast paced with not enough substance. The "bad guy" killed a bunch of people and the Doctor didn't seem to care. Which makes me kind of sad. We found nothing more out about Clara. How were they going to get to the South Pole? And for some reason I want to start singing "Hungry Like the Wolf". :-)

I liked this episode better than the last as well. Yeah, it was faster paced, but I actually enjoyed that. The pacing was more consistent in this episode and it kept the tension up.

I think this episode actually benefited from being a one-off with no obligation to tell more about the Doctor or Clara. It was just a good romp where Clara got exposed to the more dangerous side of traveling with the Doctor.

It blows me away though that the Doctor STILL hasn't put some kind of remote control on the TARDIS...

I thought that old guy trying to get Clara to sing was a bit weird. His insistence on here singing "Hungry like the wolf" reminded me of Bad Wolf.

Holy shit, the 'Bad Wolf' connection didn't even dawn on me. Considering that the 50th anniversary episode is coming up, I actually wouldn't be surprised if that was on purpose.

I loooooooved this one. Well, the alien face caresses were a bit weird. But other than that, loved it. Very nice thriller atmosphere.

Moffat tends to do his best work when the episode is a thriller, so it's not surprising this episode was stronger. And with that in mind, I can't wait for next week's episode, Hide. That seems RIGHT up Moffat's alley.

I ejoyed the episodes, it had a good bunch of guest roles which was a plus. I'm not too sold on Clara yet, there is something with her that keeps me from liking her at the moment, it might change, but it might stick.

But the preview for next week look amazing, it seems really exciting and I can hardly wait for it. I love when it is really thrilling and a bit "scary".

I nominate Colin Morgan for future companion! He first caught my eye back in Season 4 episode "Midnight" and then I got hooked on Merlin. He's dreamy! *swoon*

Three new episode posters have been released and they look really cool. I love that Dr. Who does this. Does anyone know when they'll be premiering?

No idea when they're premiering, but I imagine it's soon. If they're not coming directly after "Hide", I imagine it will be within the month. Guess we'll see at the end of that episode when they're coming.

I have to say, these all look awesome. I'm personally excited for Nightmare in Silver because it's written by Neil Gaiman, one of my favorite authors and the writer for the excellent "The Doctor's Wife" episode.

Also excited for this "Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS" episode. I'm always happy to learn more about "the other main character" of the show and this looks like it will continue to play with the odd physics of the Doctor's ship.

They all look really cool and I'm particularly interested in The Crimson Horror. Clara looks so good in period attire and I'm digging the bowler hat on Matt Smith. I wonder if the sign above (SWEETville) is a reference to our dear Mrs. Song.

I love it when Neil Gaiman writes for DW and his episodes are always great. I hope he can put a bit of scariness back into the Cybermen as their recent appearances have been a little one-dimensional.

And I'm always eager to see more of the Tardis. They appear to be using the infinite stairs room from The Labyrinth, wonder if there'll be a Goblin King at the center.
