RT RP

Greetings and felicitations!

Who would be interested in some real time roleplaying?

Over ten years ago, I was part of an RP Star Trek group on Yahoo called Gamma Quadrant Headquarters...a Starfleet station and a few starships based in the Gamma Quadrant.

We did RT RP in a chat room where instead of writing fan fiction, we played off of eachother's creativity in the moment and responded, interacted, etc. in character. It was a whole lotta fun!

In STO, we have bridges but they aren't functional, at least not to most people. For RT RP, this is great!! We could RP in chat, while on the bridge (no vent).

I would like to form a crew, we would have ranks independent of the fleet and STO so that we can drive stories, etc. I would not necessarily be the Captain, in fact, I wouldn't mind just being a bridge officer.

Reply to this thread if you are interested in this, if you want to be a sci, tac, med or eng officer and a suggested rank...whatever you want to be. We can then choose a Captain and a type of bridge to host on and then have lots of fun!

I'm totally game for this! I would be happy as either Lt. Cmdr. cheif engineer or ensign/lt. helmsman. other roles are fine too, but those are my first choices.

I'm still a rookie at it and haven't done bridge-based RP yet in STO, but I'd be interested in taking part in something with you all.

Also, just FYI you'll likely find me on my main (Ras) later into the evening at Quark's on some nights for casual "off-duty" RP with other players. I enjoy it, just adds another element to the immersion if you're truly looking to develop your character. All are welcome, of course.

I'd also be enthused to do missions or daily's and RP through a private channel or something.

Sounds like fun! I've actually been doing stuff like for this for a while now in the superhero MMOs (CoH and CO), so it would be cool to get a group going for STO. I'd be most likely to make it if we could set aside a regular night.

I can take any role or rank really, but I have a medic character I'm going to be revealing in ST: Pandora that would be perfect for this. It would be a Commander rank Chief Medical Officer. However, again, I can really do any rank or role.

And if I'm in-game, I'll always up for RP chatter. There is, after all, a StonewallRP chat channel that has been woefully underused.

Instead of waiting for more people to express interest, I'd like us to get into things asap and people can join us as they come along.

What day and time works best for people? Do you want to schedule the time or do you want to get together whenever we happen to be online at the same time?

Please post your rank, character name and position you've decided on (which should be easy at this point hahaha).

Hiya, I think this is a great idea, and would love to take part sometimes, but I fear my imagination is not up to real time role-play yet, lol.

I just wanted to voice an idea I had which I thought might help. I imagine it will be complicated to get into a bridge crew mentality at first, so would taking on the job-roles of previous Star Trek crews help to start with?

We all know the roles and duties of the Enterprise and Voyager bridge crews, how about assigning the role of Tuvok or Worf to one player, the role of Data or Wesley etc.? I don't mean actually take on the character, we would keep our chosen characters, but all I would need to know is that I'm in the Tom Paris role, and I would instantly know what his duties and expected dialogue would be etc.

It's just a suggestion, but I think it might help get things started and help to create a crew feeling instantly without having to spend time before each mission explaining who is who.

Thanks for the suggestion! That is actually exactly what I am doing! Each person will play a different bridge officer position so someone will be the helm officer (wesley/tom paris), a chef medical officer (crusher/bashir/mccoy) security officer, etc. etc. We'll then RP in the moment with each of us having our own assigned duties according to the position we have.

You'd be surprised Zep, it's surprisingly easy once you get exposed to it once or twice. I'd say try it. Worst case you just won't like it. :P

So, since you're captain Kaaleb, this means all of us are also on the Eclipse, correct?

I've been really thinking about getting into a Star Trek RP lately and am wondering how this went for everyone? Is another RP being planned?

I haven't yet planned an RP event because we initially didn't have a huge response and with being so close to Season 2, I thought it would be fun to wait for ship interiors to go live!

That being said, I am looking at AUGUST 1 to do a roleplaying event.

Ship interiors is what I've been waiting for before starting to RP in STO. Without them it was just looking a bit odd! But now I'm ready to go! :D

Unfortunately I'm not generally available on Saturddays - I only get to see my boyfriend at weekends and so he gets annoyed if I spend them playing games! - but if anything comes up that's on a weekday I will be in!

I'll plan something for the weekend and something for a weeknight and then see how many people we get and what day and time works for most or if we can do it a couple times a week. As we get a little closer, I will post a set date and time here.

technical question Kaaleb, has anyone done a load limit test on ships now that interiors are in place on tribble?

Not that I am aware of....next time I'm on, I'll do just that!

I haven't done this before; but I'm intrigued by the concept and I'd like to give it a try. So, count me in. :)

It doesn't matter what rank the character is since it will mostly be rping in the ship interiors, ds9, etc. and we won't actually be getting into combat (we'll simulate combat at times). So bring whoever you wish to!
