MMOs Tried: All the biggies.

MMOs I stuck with:
EQ 1
EQ 2
LOTRO
WoW
SWG... the original flavor, not the bland "upgraded" version
CO (Lifetimer Baby!)
Aion (for now...)

Also I think the WoW appeal, at least early on, was that finally we MMO players were becoming mainstream... it was nice for a while. Then a 14 year old Raid leader cried in Ventrillo... then it lost its appeal.

Ventrillo is like Team Speak. It was invented to make communication faster, and so people can make fun of my voice.

I'll just always try to do a Picard impression, you know, a French person with an English Accent... even though I have 0 accent except when I say "y'all"

I had a friend try this with me.. it wasn't easy for her, because I've lived so many different places... She basically said I came off with a somewhat mid-western, with northeastern slant.. speech pattern...

Always struck me as kind of odd.. as I've never been to the Northeast.. lol

See thats funny, cuz no one can ever figure out where i am from based on my accent. In florida they think i am from the north, up north they have no idea lol My stepmother, who raised me since I was 1, was from michigan. My father and his (who i all grew up with) are eastern european-decent and speak a european langauge most of the time. All that stuff together confuses many people lol I try not to say y'all though..

As for the point of the thread.. I get burned out on WoW very fast, within a month or two. But then i go back after a few months. I tried other MMOs too. EVE is too complicated for my casual player tastes. SWG sucks and Final fantasy online is a total grind fest. Cant think of anything else out there. I'd like to play Black Prophecy and Jumpgate Evolution, if they ever release. and yes.. I'll TRY SWTOR.. dont hate me! lol

Have you tried Dungeons and Dragons ONLINE? I hear its free. My Brother plays it.

My last BF and I played DDO when it was first released... back when it was still P2P. Our playing lasted about two months as I recall.

At the time, we were playing CoH and WoW on and off, and it wasn't good enough then to warrant replacing either of those... or being worth a third sub a month.

All I basically remember of it was... we didnt care for the "too linear" story. Graphics weren't that great... and my ex's deal-killer for sure... the camera was a fight in game.

Now that it has gone from P2P, to F2P... I can't really imagine that any of those issues has imporved much...

"Die Hard" D&D players probably wouldn't mind playing DDO.. but... we didn't care much for it.

I tried to like DDO for my boyfriend twice. I just couldn't get into it, and he was bad at explaining everything. Character creation in that game is apparently easy... if you have played a Pen and Paper RPG, which I had not.

I thought the graphics were alright. Pretty similar to LOTRO's style (same company, so it makes sense).

I did like how the dungeons had their own stories. Hated the combat (because, quite frankly, I was just bad at it).

He still tries to get me to play on occasion, but I just can't get into it.

I have NWN2, but I'm missing the first disk (I got it from my ex). I'm gonna try to find the first disk to download though.

Played CoH/V for a long time, and am currently a WoWhead. I'm an officer in a great guild there, and while I expect STO will likely become my main MMO, I will probably continue to play WoW as well.

I've played: WoW, FF online, SWG, EVE, COH, and a few minor crappy ones.

I've beta'ed: Tabula Rasa (I thought it was good.. i dont understand what happen with it), Aion (great graphics, lack of immediate plot), some iteration of D&D online (total crap), and I forgot what else lol

I'd love to try/beta SWTOR. Why are you so certain you will get into the beta for it Har? I wish I was sure I'd get into the beta for STO

Wow Har, thats great. Why did that game disappear so fast? i dont see what was wrong with it really. It was a bit weird i guess, but that wasnt always a bad thing. I stopped playing cuz I couldnt afford it and got sick of MMOs (games in general for awhile). bioware rocks.. playing Dragon Age Origins. Game is sweet.

SW: TOR looks like it will be fun but I haven't been following it as closely as STO. I think it's the lack of space ship combat. But I have several friends who are excited about it so I will likely give it a shot.

I just hope it doesn't suck me in, I can't afford two MMO subscriptions.

Jager said it, no space ship combat.. least I dont think. I havnt really read anything up on that game except that it was taking beta apps (I waited a few days since it all crashed..).

Star Wars? Check. Bioware? Check Check. I am very excited about TOR. I usually play 2 MMOs at a time, so I am hopeful they will be Star Trek and Star Wars. Soooo sick of fantasy MMOs.

Is The Agency an MMO? I thought it was just an RPG. Will have to check it out.

I started playing the old text MMOs (or whatever they were called back in the early 90's) and wasn't too thrilled. Not enough stimulation.

Then I found my first real MMO in Lineage 2. It was cool enough, I played it a while and kinda got hooked. I progressed and then hit all those damn level walls, and the 8-10 hour grind to get less than 1/3 a level...only to lose 4% experience when killed. Add the farmers and bot trains 9 player thick, I ended up quitting. I still have an account, and activate it from time to time just to play a little.

Then I moved to DDO. Another good game when I played, I didn't know much about the lore, moved with friends, it got old after a while. I went back recently and had some fun, but still wasn't what I was looking for.

I played COH, Age of Conan, and Second Life (it was similar to Lineage 2, don't know the real name...but you could fly and it was a free game) but still, just not my style.

I played WoW for about 1-2 years, again following some friends. I liked it more, but damn all the changes and the end game always being these hours and hours wasted in raids in the HOPES Of getting something, made me move on.

But when I heard this game was coming out, I pretty much signed my life away. I played (and still have thousands) of the Star Trek Card Game from Decipher and it was fun. I am hoping to actually do some of the "missions" from that game and face some of their dilemmas. We'll see if anything comes from it. I already saw the Crystalline Entity which was nice...except how it's farmed...
