True, it would be a bit much of an overhaul of a ship build system.

But that said, nothing ventured nothing gained is what i say.

The idea i had was essentially you start off in the miranda class or career specific class ship and you build upon that, with each level. Once you have obtained the next rank, the ship design would open up to further customization of the look of the ship and access to other things (consoles, weapon armaments and so on).

This essentially would be like mixing R&D with the upgrade system for parts and commodities and maybe specialized slots for special items as such, the tempest rail gun weapon or console specific to that ships like cloaking or the other gold consoles.

Again this is just an idea. Whether or not its valuable or not is a completely different question all together.

But i personally would love to see a different means or way of ship building which i personally think could be a sight worth seeing , but than again not everyone would love that idea, but hey what can one do.

So, like - a rebuild of the ship build system?

I mean, they've overhauled some game systems, crafting, reputation gear - and we're still seeing balance aftershocks from at least a few of those. I don't think any of those would be as fundamental to the operation of the game.

I've never liked STO's build system as much as I preferred Bridge Commander or Starfleet Command's. But that's one ship, I expect, has sailed.

It seems likely to me there will be a new set of T6 ships released which are command specialised to drain all of our cash away.

With only one (and a half) of the Tier 6 ships really representing canonical hero ships, it might be their one winning opportunity to get us to buy T6 ships.

I'm just not seeing them around the game in numbers I would have expected going into DR. Leading me to suspect that what players have Ops Pack or buy T6 a la carte, do so for the Traits, and return to T5U ships for the long haul by virtue of gear investments, sentimentality, or the Boff/console ratios.

I had a feeling that Cryptic would be concerned about the ratio of how many people are using the T6 to T5-U ships to be honest but that said, there possibly a way to get people involved with these T6 ships.

But i personally would love to see a different means or way of ship building which i personally think could be a sight worth seeing , but than again not everyone would love that idea, but hey what can one do.

Mind you, i do have other thoughts of what i think has happened as such... but thats a different things all together.

Though who knows really but its the most financially profitable thing to do and lets face it that is cryptics forte

Well, I suppose they have to recoup their profit margins somehow since I stopped buying Lock Box keys!

But even a ship-phile like me is fast approaching my satiation point. If they started creating micro transactions for additional ship upgrades/customization/skins for what we already have, that might tempt me.

Aww, who am I kidding. If the new Starfleet ships are purty & have a saucer, they'll get my money.

The question will be are we getting new ships with this specialisation or are current ships getting retrofitted.

To paraphrase, did they just screw over everyone who shelled out for Tier 6 ships or Tier 6 upgrades just three months ago?

Is there any reason to hurry to the training/vr ground mods in the intel tree, rather than work the command tree?

So I broke down and bought this game and, while it took me about 30 minutes or so learning how to fly, i'm really liking it. For me, it's everything I've looked for in a game with space travel, exploration, trading, and combat (among other things you can do). Too bad it isn't Trek, but oh well..

I started with the keyboard and mouse, which is doable. But I agree that to get the full experience (short of using Oculus Rift), a joystick and throttle combo is HIGHLY recommended. I broke out my Saitek x45 set from my Flight-Sim days and I am hooked.

The game is in its infancy with a big vision for development. But as a first release, it is SOLID. The universe is basically a 1:1 scale re-creation of the entire Milky Way galaxy, with ~400 billion star systems. Behemoth. All known stars, celestial objects, and currently-known exoplanets are included and added regularly, while the rest of the unknowns are procedurally generated.

There are a lot of beautiful places out there. I too am excited for them to add atmospheric flight and planetary landing, along with better multi-player cohesion. Star Citizen is expected to offer these kinds of features too, but if you're looking to set sail in a vast universe now then, next to EvE online, this game is a contender (if not easier to play!).

Feel free to add me as well, if you'd like. My CMDR's name is Zelryn.
