Resolute Resolutions

January 01 2020
My resolution is to wake up earlier every morning and do something productive to get my head in the game for the day and help me be more mindful.  I have an area already picked out for stretching, a morning meditation and some light work-out at home before going to work.  I've never been a morning person though and crave those extra minutes of sleep, so it's going to be tough for me.

My New Year's resolution is to lose my Christmas kilos before March... by that time we move into our new place with a new gym and I want to get properly toned up there before the end of the year.

I really  need to get back  in shape, and to start  eating  better. My New Year's resolution is to get fit, and to cut back on the  junk food and beer.

Did you know that 80 percent of new year's resolutions fail? Is your new year's resolution to get into shape? Unfortunately we can't all be blessed with Odo's shapeshifting genes! Or perhaps you want to learn a new skill, play an instrument, or speak a new language! Or perhaps, you just want to share what you are grateful for in 2020? Let's join forces and try to stick to our goals together! Write down your resolution here and get support from the stonewall gaming community. Share your tips, share your struggles, share your victories, share your recipes. Together we can make all our resolutions reality!

Today, I'm grateful that I managed to survive the entire day of running Winter Whirl, despite being an introvert with a limited processing capacity.

I would also like to invite everyone to try and continue expressing gratitude each day in your private life. Maybe next year we can compare notes and see if it had a lasting effect on your outlook?

Today is all about SGN. It's come together like a ragtag fleet in search of new members and new gaming platforms. To gayly go where no LGBT+ has gone before. And in that journey the bonds of friendship forms and memories made. Here's to you all. Llap

I'm a bit late but holiday distractions kept me away for a few days. I was saving one for last: I am grateful for this fleet. I consider a bunch of you my friends, and I don't bestow that title lightly. I am so glad I've had the good fortune to be part of this amazing group of people for several years now. I've played a lot of games and been a member of a lot of guilds, fleets, and other associations, and this one is, by far, the best of them.

I wish I had a way to show my appreciation for the people in this fleet, but there are just so many of you that it'd take months to thank all of you properly. Maybe if you all took numbers or just kept it to small groups. I'll see what I can work out.

Today, I'm grateful that despite all the damage I've tried to do to my body and mind over the years, I can still walk, I've never broken a bone, I have little scars and that I'm not missing any parts of the body. I'm grateful for being in more-or-less one piece, despite everything.

Day 7:

I am very grateful to Stonewall Gaming Networks creation.. within these walls of safety I have made so many great and fun memory's over these past.. 7 years, and have made a lot of fantastic friends.
Since the beginning I wanted to be part of the Admins who bring the community together on event days both in game and out.
Im grateful for having the opportunity to have done that now.. and hopefully Ive inspired others to help bring creation and fun into wanting to become the next generation of admins, so i can sit back and cheer you on from a distance!

For this seventh day, I chose the most basic thing: I am grateful for LIFE.

There would be a lot of stuff to say about my personal reasons to be be thankful to be alive every single day, but I think I'm gonna keep sad and horrible stories out of this wonderful uplifting thread (which I am very grateful for that we had it! It was lots of fun! You people wrote very inspiring things!) and just say:

Life is precious. And if you ever think it's too hard, my advise would be to try making it through just one more day. Or even take it 10 seconds at a time.

Lechaim!

Today i am grateful for the nature that surrounds me ... starting from my little plants in the room up to the big forest next to the village i am living in, which provides me with great walking path (on sand) and always a little different fresh air to breath in, other than just the city air with tastes of cars, benzole, restaurant and fast food stands and such.

Its especially relaxing wandering the forest in rain ... for various reasons. The smell is different and it is even more unlikely to meat (for me often stressful and annoying) people ...

Today I'm grateful for us. Yeah that's right us, and what we can achieve if we try and want. We can solve problems and can overcome injustice and unequality, if we manage to conquer our fear.

This song is about people succeeding in their revolution (Hungary 1956):
That's how grateful we are!

Day 4: I am grateful for stories.
I love the chances I get to escape into other worlds, into the worlds crafted by other people, to be lost in their stories and words. I am grateful there are so many ways I get to experience stories; audiobooks, books, gaming, movies, and tv. There is little I enjoy more than a good story.

Day 5: I am grateful for little cakes and treats to brighten up my day.
Well the gratitude might not last long when I have to go for a run later, but I am grateful that I can afford to treat myself sometimes and that I am no longer living hand-to-mouth. But I'm also grateful for the experience of living without for so many years, it has made me appreciate the small and large things even more.

Day 6: I am grateful for the cat.
Wagner (I did not name him) is a toothless 16-year-old Persian furball. I adopted him and his brother Rontti two years ago. Even though Rontti passed in the Spring, they have both brought me so much joy. I am grateful that Wagner still is in good health, and that doesn't struggle like a lot of Persian cats.

Day 6
I'm grateful and happy that I found my love. Sharing our lives, our dreams, our fears, our angers, our beliefs, our visions and all that joyful moments like watching Star Trek together, listening to music, playing games together, making art, going shopping, turning the volume off when orange or white haired gorilla presidents speak, and much more, all that fuels my motivation and gives me power to look forward to the next day on that crazy planet. I think that I'm very happy and I have deepest respect for all people, who manage to walk their path alone. Love you all!

Day 6 - I am grateful for HOPE.

I have been through times where I felt totally hopeless, that's why by now I very much cherish this wonderful, strength-giving feeling that can help you get back up after falling. One of my favorite citations is about it, from Vaclav Havel:

Hope is not the belief in happy endings. Hope is the conviction that something makes sense, no matter how it ends. (I hope I translated that correctly...)

As long as things are moving in the direction and there is a possibility of getting better - even if ever so slightly! - there is reason for hope. Without the ability to hope for improvement even in bad situations, humanity would probably not have made the progress we did. These days, sometimes when looking at the state of the world and the daily news, it's kind of hard to keep it up and hope for the future, but then I try to remind myself that our species is able to achieve so much in little time and I remember how much progress was made just in the last 100 years. For example, when my grandmother was born, females were not allowed to vote and now we have a female chancellor here in Germany and a female head of commission in the EU (and just look at Finland's new government which was already mentioned in this thread).
(Here is a song I like to listen to to cheer me up and remind me of how much we've gained since the sixties where the musical is set.)

Star Trek spread hope in a time where the cooperation of Americans, Russians, Japanese, (black) females and aliens must have seemed like an impossible dream.
Spartacus rose up, Gandhi marched, Rosa Parks kept seated, the Stonewall riot started and nowadays people are on strike every Friday - all because of hope.

Humanity needs dreamers and people who dare to fight for what they hope for, no matter how unlikely it seems.
I am endlessly grateful for the power of hope to ignite change for the better.
Hopeful, hippiepunk.
