Signed up but I don't have much hope for it. Free-to-play and web based? How extensive can it be?

They're also rolling with the two factions, Feds and Klingons. That seems a strange choice to me, there's a lot of STO fans that want to play another faction and if you gave them that option you may be able to "steal" some of STO's player base. Rolling the same thing out? no effect.

The Passport/driving licence thing is quite strange. Especially since they don't give any reason for it.

The only thing I can think of is that you have to be over 18 to sign the non-disclosure agreement. They ask if you're over 18 in the sign up process and since they aren't going to have payment controls they won't use a credit card like other systems to confirm age so they have to use I.D.

Some of us were talking about this being our go to game when STO is down for repairs. :P

I signed up for the Beta, but it says I have to provide a copy of my passport if I'm chosen? Seems kinda odd, but I guess since its being developed in Germany.

What I've seen of the new V I like. I especially like Anna, I think she's a really good SciFi villian. I loved her as Adria in SG1. I haven't been able to get completely into it cuz I just don't have the time even with DVR but I look forward to the new season. Oh and Scott Wolfe is "Peeps"???? I think I need to go watch Go again lol.

Did anyone else play The Kobayashi Alternative? It was kind of a step beyond a text game, with little text windows and at least color text to indicate different people speaking. You gave orders to your crew as Captain Kirk, and I remember the helmsman (or maybe navigator) was named Ensign Avoca. But the text parsing engine only looked at the first 5 letters of any given word. So I used to call him Ensign Avocado, and he didn't mind.

What's really cool is to set them up as a slide show on your computer. Makes it look like your computer is actually on a ship or something!

Most of my BOs have a backstory in my head, but I play so many different captains that putting them all down on paper (or even in-game in their bio) just hasn't happened yet.

Very nice! My BO's seem so two dimensional, I need to do something similar. As for the spelling, don't worry, I know a few people in the fleet who use the "25th century spelling" for a lot of words (you know who you are) lol.

Also, I realised midway through I'd misspelt "encryption". I decided the word has two spelling in the 25th century. :-D

I decided I preferred this approach to doing captain and BO biographies. Will have to be updated once I get promoted, but this was just a fun way to do it.

I played the Sega TNG game, which was fun at the time, but like most childhood games and movies, its best just not to touch it again lest you're remembering it better than it really was.

I can kick it old-school on this. I once played a VCR Star Trek game. I had no idea how that would work, but it was cleverly done. I won because the game is very much focussed on speed, and I could play a lot faster than my opponent.

I also did an online roleplay about 7 years ago, I want to say it was called star-fleet.com , or something like that. Doesnt' exist now, best I can tell. I was having a lot of fun with that but a new job kept me from continuing.
