New Years Resolutions.. I have several of them.. some much easier than others..

1) Now that it has been a yr since I quit smoking time to get healthier in the means of diet, nutrition, and exercise.

2)After taking a few yrs away from socializing and dating to get back out there and start to meet new people.

3)Start on College.. Never to late till I am dead.

4) Get back on my spiritual path

5) Have more faith in myself

Next step, turn your resolution into an attainable goal. Jumping into a gym or program is hard, and staying consistent with a gym or program is every harder. But once you’ve established a routine, it’ll keep you consistent. Ease your way in by setting up gradual commitments such as doing 2 sets of 10 reps of Bicep work outs Monday Wednesday and Friday. Adding in Cardio for 20 minutes Tuesday and Thursday should follow. Having a plan is definitely a must, it’ll provide organized options that do not feel obligated.

Your eating habits are important as well. Counting your calories (not to be confused with dieting) has proven very effective. You can eat what you want, just make sure it’s within your caloric budget. This is a wonderful website to measure your caloric requirements if you are attempting to increase weight or loose weight. http://www.freedieting.com/tools/calorie_calculator.htm

I went from 230 to 190 in 3 months, eating was 80% of the battle, where developing a consistent workout routine that didn’t feel like I was killing my self became 20% of the remaining battle. P90x is a wonderful program, it’s like the boot camp program I do every Saturday at 24hr fitness, just make sure you pace yourself, remember, body recovery is just as essential as anything else. So just make sure you don’t do the full P90x every single day. I hope this helps, if you want more details, just let me know.

Re: V

Having grown up watching V, V the mini series, and V the series I loved every bit of it.. Hot aliens in red suits. So with the advent of the new Series I of course was like WTH another of my childhood stories twisted into something else..and I have been correct but, I am pleased..They are paying homage to the olde series however they are making it a new story with today's morals and fears.. Am I 100% thrilled.. No.. And that has more to do with the fact that some of the primary actors are still not "into" there persona.. YOu can tell they are acting and not actually living it.. And a good show makes you believe they are indeed living it..

And now the actress who played Diana is back..It is either a ploy to bring in the olde crowd or a weak attempt to tie the original series to this one..

I was a huge fan of the original V shows/miniseries/tv-movies.

So, not to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen the most recent episode...

I actually watched some of the original V series from the 80s on SyFy last weekend and I was really hooked on it! Pretty gritty and some good effects too!

Has anyone seen the scene where Robin gives birth to the two alien babies?! (scary or humorous?!) lol :silly:

Warning: Nerd Alert
Actually, we did see non-medical science officers as part of the senior staff at least twice: Spock on TOS and Jadzia Dax on DS9. I would also mention T'Pol on ENT, but she wasn't a Starfleet officer and ENT isn't the kind of show I would want to build my arguments on.
This Concludes The Nerd Event. The Red Cross will be by shortly to hand out coffee and blankets.

Anyway... Syvok specializes in spatial anomalies (Big surprise I know, but this IS Star Trek).

Re: Upgraded Video Card, wow!

January 05 2011
I want to get a second HD5770 and Crossfire it with my current one to boost my graphics prettiness (relative bargain), but at the same time both STO and Dragon Age: Origins top-out my CPU as well (AMD 64 X2 6000+) so I'd like to upgrade to a quad core. Unfortunately that would probably mean a mobo upgrade too. And upgrade to DDR3. And I'd like a bigger monitor than the 22" I have at the moment, but only if it's got a greater resolution than my current has (1680x1050). What sucks is that I'm 'saving up' so technically I could just buy all that right now. But that would defeat the object of saving up. So I am sad. :(

Still, I could probably spare £200 or so. Any suggestions? I've seen 1Gb 5770s for under a hundred, so that'd be cheapest, but not necessarily the most cost-effective. :-S

I've been running into some driver/signal issues with the new card.

Oddly enough, it doesn't seem to be a heat or load issue. Only seems to happen when switching between display modes or rendering multiple types of output at the same time. Seems to be a driver issue. Alas, this is what got me into IT many many years ago. Just that things weren't as shiny then as they are now.

I moved from a 9800GT to a GTS450. That alone is a pretty nice step up! I have pretty much everything on and maxed...within reason and am still running at around 77 frames per second.

I've been considering going from my 260gtx SLI to a single 570gtx, but have been a bit hesitant as I don't know if it would actually be worth the change.

I would so love a new video card (my lappy is 5 or 6 years old, I got it used). But, personal finances aside, a new video card would be worth more than the whole computer. Someday...
