Cheesy Pop Event!

April 02 2011
Coming shortly, to a Thursday Night GMT time slot near you...

Spark Productions, proudly presents...

CHEESY POP!

In an attempt to resurrect my quickly fading Uni days, I bring you… Cheesy Pop! This was an event in one of those wonderful student unions where they played the songs you love to hate or are far too ashamed to admit that you like, my iTunes is FULL of such songs.

The event itself is simple, it’s a scaled down data sample hunt. There are many people out there who wish to help the crafting corps for all the wonderful work that they do, but just don’t know how. This is the even for you then!
In Vent, I will be playing the types of songs I mentioned above, in the game you will get to go farm data samples while bopping your head along and enjoying the company of those that are also attending. It won’t be too long of an event, around an hour (as that’s really all anyone can take of cheesy pop music) and am sure will be lots of fun, or what we say in Scotland, it will be a laugh!

After this hour, you will come back to me, am thinking in Club 47 on ESD, hand over the data samples, hopefully with some rare ones as well, where if you want, we can hang about and dance to some more Cheesy Pop songs!

But, is there a reward for this, I hear you ask? Aside from the fact you are indulging in musical sin in a risk free environment, there will be perks for coming back with the most samples. The person in first place gets to make 3 requests on the next event! However, it will be from a given playlist, after all I can’t afford to download new songs every week, and those requests might not be Cheesy Pop material! Don’t worry though, the list currently stands at a massive 340 songs and will continue to grow. Look here for the link coming soon™.

So far, this event will happen every second Thursday at:
9pm GMT
4pm EST
1pm PST

If it proves popular, not clashing with other events and am allowed… it may happen more often.

So here is your chance to help the crafting corps, listen to some cheesy music and have some fun with some fleeties!

I leave you with this video, that best sums up the type of music there will be;

I look forward to seeing you all and remember, Cheesy Pop isn’t just an event, it’s a way of life!

P.S. OH! Remember and check the events page for when it starts up! Hopefully next week :D

Also, where is it I can send screenshots for use in the Stonewall Times? I make no promises regarding their quality or utility, but I remember you guys were looking for some a while back.

Sorry for the delay in reporting.
Overall I think that this wednesday's episode of the RP group's mission went well. A bit bumpy since we had roughly half the players as last time, but we made it through. Kudos to Hep and Kal for joining in as Chief Engineer and Security Chief (respecively). Both of you jumped in and learned the ropes really quickly.
Hopefully the next session will have more people (please don't make me Captain again... Can't do science stuff as Captain...)

Please join us in congratulating the winners of our March Star Trek Fiction Writing Competition! Prizes will be sent out via in-game mail by DoogieGood so watch your inboxes, winners! :)

Taking the first place prize is JBrenden with his entry “Connor.” While the competition was tight, this story’s success in the areas of imagery, character development, and story flow propelled it to the top. Our judges also felt that this story was the most technically well crafted, making excellent use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Combine all of that with an emotional one-two punch and you have an amazing story!

Coming in at second place was Propecia, with his entry “Mind Games.” This story rated the highest for originality given its rather odd but successful bend of the Star Trek theme. This entry also rated well in character development and story flow; the ending, especially, created a deep and emotional touchstone.

The third place winner was MarkNine, with his entry “Mysterious Ways.” Revolving around a roleplaying character that has been in development for a number of years, this story rated well in all technical aspects as well as in the originality category.

Once again, congratulations to our winners! Thanks go to all of our competitors and judges for volunteering the time, energy, and enthusiasm necessary to make a contest such as this one successful. :)

On going Fleet Chat Challenge

April 01 2011
So one of the reasons I was turned off from the game, was the inexplicable change to my fleet chat where I only saw maybe 30-50% of the conversations. Well Cryptic still has it listed as a bug, with no ETA to fix. I have tried reinstalling, resettings, blah, blah...

Recently seems someone may have sorted out a similar issue with their zone chat. I have done the same, but have regrettably removed everyone from friend and ignore list to completely restore chat/social settings to pristine condition. Just in case you receive a message about me removing you as a friend it is only to correct this silly fleet chat issue.

For reference I am copying the URL string from the forums I am using. Feel free to provide any feedback or advice.

To be honest, I'll do almost anything if they'd give me something like those Skrill from Earth: Final Conflict! I guess they'd consider me easy as well!
