Congrats to the officers.

Want to make sure there is a clarafication on the KoS. There are only 417 Characters in KoS. Most of those are just alts.

115 of those characters have not yet registered on the forums even thou the officers and captains have been asking folks too.

(Not so) breaking news!

The new episode of TOR Junkie is up and ready for DL at both the TOR Junkie home page and on iTunes

EPISODE 5: Ninja Nerf Kills Grouping?

Tristin, Angel, and Dustin are joined this week by Kris to discuss the game and give away two free months of game time. The gang countdowns the top news of the week. Topics include the Friday night downtime, performance updates, developer play schedule, same sex relationships in game, the first guild summit in Austin, and subscriber numbers. Next up a great idea is discussed to fix the horrible Ninja Nerf to grouping that came out last week. You know that one which makes playing with friends or helping out lower level guild members impossible. After that we discuss why skipping planets is not the best idea overall.

Lots of emails flooded our box this last week and we respond to a few of them on the show. Can I just ask, why all the hate? Today we announce the winner of 2 free months of game play time. Tristin butchers the name of the winner but the prize is on the way to it’s way as we speak. Listen to find out if you won, and return next week for details on our next giveaway.

Knights of Stonewall Update - February 2012

February 04 2012
Wow, it's February already. As promised here is this month's brief update on the State of the Guild as of today the 4th of February, 2012.

Officers
I'd like to announce that Justjon has moved from the post of Empire PvE Officer to the role of Membership Officer. His responsibilities now include keeping the in-game and website rosters up to date, ensuring that we know who everyone in-game is by ensuring we all have our username in our member notes and making sure that everyone is at the right rank. I'd like to thank Jon for volunteering to take on this time-consuming, never-ending and thankless task, lol.

We currently have 2 available officer positions, Ambassador and Empire PvE Officer. The descriptions of these roles and information on how to apply are currently posted in the Council Chamber forum.

Guild Wide Meeting
As you should already know, we will be holding our first guild wide meeting today in the IRC channel. Saturday the 4th of February at 12 noon PST, 3pm EST, 8pm GMT. The meeting should take no more than an hour and will take place on our IRC chat channel to ensure anyone, even those without Ventrilo, can attend. You can access the IRC chat simply by clicking "Chatroom" in the menu at the top on the page, or if you would like to use your own IRC client you can find our channel details here. The meeting will be informal and the officers will be there to answer all your questions.

Crafting Meeting
KiddKasper has arranged a meeting for all members who are interesting learning more about SW:TOR's crafting system this Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at 9pm GMT (4pm EST, 3pm CST, 2pm MST, 1pm PST). This will be right after the guild wide meeting. All the information on this meeting can be found in Kaspers thread here.

Events
The officers are currently working on finding out what kind of PvE events and in-game social gathering everybody would like to see. The Republic and Empire PvE Officers will be working together to ensure that players on both sides are catered for equally. Johnspiff has already begun as PvP Sign Up thread, so if you would like to get involved in PvP, check it out.

I'd also like to address a common misconception that we have encountered before. The officers are not responsible for running every guild event. We have 486 members in KoS and everyone is more than welcome to create and run any event they choose. We have an Events section on the website that anyone can use to promote their event. The officers are here to ensure that we have events and to help get everyone involved. They are also here to help promote all events, and are always available to give advice on how to use our facilities to get an event going.

Republic guilds
Soldiers of Stonewall has grown beyond expectations and I'd like to thank everyone for helping us by moving their Trooper and Smuggler characters to the correct guild. There are still a lot of these characters in Knights of Stonewall. I'd just like to remind everyone that it is in their own interest to be in the correct guild as we will be attempting to maximise space in the guild banks when they arrive by keeping class specific items in the correct bank. If you would like to switch your character to Soldiers of Stonewall, just ask in the KoS channel for an invite.

PG13 Policy
We have a PG13 policy in all the public areas of the website and in our in-game chat channel. This matches Bioware's "ESRB Rating TEEN". For any of our newer members I'd just like to remind everyone why it exists and that it is not designed to hinder communication, but to encourage it. This policy is not because we are pandering to a minority of members, it is simply there because we don't all want to listen to one or two people talking explicitly about themselves and others. We have provided 18+ channels in Ventrilo along with private rooms, and the game has a private whisper and group party chat function. So we are not stopping anyone from talking about what they want. We just ask everyone to remember that the public rooms are public and so we all have to feel comfortable joining in the conversation.

Finally, I'd like to thank everyone for their ongoing support for the Stonewall community and particularly for Knights of Stonewall. I want to thank all the Captains for doing such a great job in-game keeping on top of all the invite and information requests. I'd also like to thank the officers for giving up (what has recently been far too much of) their free time to keep this guild working so well.

Thank you all!

But the majority of voters chose Gore, and a greater majority of voters chose Obama. Both progressive forward thinking individuals. Gore, unfortunately, didn't get elected because it turned out that the majority of voters didn't really have a say; it was the government (the electoral college) who decided the winner.

Without the vote... Well... We would be something like a dictatorship or a monarchy. Like Saudi Arabia (Star Wars Appropriate Link) a nation who likes to believe that homosexuals should be stoned, burned or thrown from mountain tops. Maybe we'd be like the Soviet Union or pre US influence People's Republic of China.

Luckily for us, a large enough majority voted someone with the type of mindset to abolish the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" and allow gays to serve openly in our military. Without the vote, we'd likely have a government full of good ol' boys where the only change would come through revolt or a military coup.

I think you're right. The majority has spoken and 67% of them don't like "Stonewall Gaming Community".

We aren't a national government and we can be more flexible than that. We can listen to the majority and the minority and give both of them influence on decisions.

Frankly I don't like any of the options in the "poll." They are either too formal, too generic, or intentionally humorously too specific. "Polls" also show that the majority of voters want to ban Gay Marriage. I'm personally glad a poll isn't a vote.

I think we should call ourselves Stonewall MMO. Site would be stonewallmmo.com(yes it's available) and I made a rough sketch logo in Adobe Illustrator to show my idea of a logo =)

Nice work on the logo Jon. My only hesitation is on the iconography itself. The fist seems a bit aggressive or militaristic for a welcoming community. I know the games we play are filled with conflict, but I think the goal is to represent the community as a whole rather than the games we play.

Then again, I could be way off. Like Hal said, this isn't something we've ever discussed at the Officer level.

Jon, did you create that logo completely youself? the hand and everything? I used to lead a guild which had "fist" in the title and our logo was a fist very much similar to that so naturally I love it!

I don't however like the name, it's not something that really rolls of the tongue. It also limits the guild into a smaller box than I thought "gaming" already did lol so naturally It's not my cup of tea... sorry!

Yeah I made the entire logo including the hand. I can understand I was thinking since mmo (massive multiplayer online) it's specific but also general. I was also thinking of it after the Analytics were posted because I started wondering of keywords people might use to find us. Stonewall and mmo popped into my head and I went with it lol.

Thanks for the compliment on the logo I figured it showed power and strength and symbolized what stonewall was all about.

This thread isn't and has never been an official decision making thread. It wasn't discussed by the officers before it was posted and it hasn't been discussed by the officers since.

This thread was just Nick trying to involve the membership in a discussion he would otherwise be having with his mirror. If you read Nick's original post you'll notice that there isn't a closing date and no where does he imply that the poll alone will show the final choice.

This topic has not been closed, the discussion is not over as long as somebody still wants to discuss it. No member has the right to decide when to place in full stop in an open discussion.

If people still have opinions to express, ideas to present or anything that they feel will add to this thread then they are welcome to bring it on. This is a discussion which has no immediate need for resolution because it involves the name that will hopefully last for many years across many games.

Anyway, back on topic...
