Re: Invites on Republic Side

Thanks Cj for "broaching" this subject. You are in no way whining or complaining, you're bringing a very important point to our attention. To be honest, I am not sure how to answer. We tried to cover this issue by creating the Captain rank which has invite capabilities and initially, we had several that graciously volunteered to become Captains. Unfortunately, due to the general inactivity not only we but almost all the guilds currently in-game are suffering from, our ability to invite people to the guild has been seriously curtailed because most of those that became Captains are no longer playing as much if at all. The situation is very similar on Empire side. Rybo, as the Empire PVE Officer, is of course only playing on that side but the number of active Captains is down as well. I think your suggestion of having a regularly scheduled time is certainly a very workable one. We could easily start with the time frame you usually log on. If you could let me know what your usual gametime is I will adjust my schedule accordingly. Hopefully, we can get more active people to volunteer to become Captains as well. :)

Re: Guild Banks how we gonna do this?

April 15 2012
Zep will have to buy the first tab on both sides (since he's the guild leader)

It does seem that Bioware would have implemented a better process of being able to donate for a guild tab, but once we have the first tab, you can deposit directly into the guild bank.

I would really appreciate a maybe guild response for both sides on how we donate to allow us to actually have the bank first would be groovy .. and lets us get funds on both sides maybe while yall hash out the permissions details etc .. and thanks so much for the response!

Re: Guild Banks how we gonna do this?

April 15 2012
First let me apologize. I haven't been very active the last couple of months. I've been in school, recently started a new job and have been sick.

At any rate, the issue of SWTOR guild banks was suppose to be my responsibility (according to Zep).I tried to do research on them when they hit the public test server so that we would have some information to go on. The discussion about actually management of the banks was put on hold for several different reasons. Part of those reasons were the possibility that Bioware could change their actual implementation when they made them go live. However, it looks like they've been implemented pretty much the way that they were on the test server.

Now that we know for sure, we need to decide on the guidelines for guild bank usage. Like you said, we don't want a bunch of junk clogging up the system, but we also don't want a new level 9 to the guild cleaning it out either. This is one reason that the guild leaders were so adamant about members having their site name in the guild roster ingame so that we can get people set to the right rank so they can have access to stuff.

The next major issue is what restrictions to place on item deposits. There will be discussion about this, but ideally important items that are harder to come by that are useful for players should be given first priority. But again, there will be a discussion to hammer out the details on this.

As far as housekeeping goes, I suspect that will still be my responsibly. Now that I think I'm finally getting over being sick (a nasty virus that just didn't want to turn loose), I should be better able to be active and stay on top of things.

Guild Banks how we gonna do this?

April 15 2012
I am sure there is an officer in charge of this.....

But since the 1.2 patch I have seen many folks asking about this. I know the biggest priority will be setting limits and rank based withdrawals, but pretty much I havent heard a peep on whose in charge and their plans, and I looked for a thread and the banks are going to be a super beneficial thing for folks wanting to give away many things to their fellow guildies. Ensuring their is no abuse will help contributions, but in that same breath we cannot have a bunch of level 9 green things in there.

I know that each tabbed area cost xxxxx amount of credits ... and reasonabably in order for us to have a bank we need to pool our funds and actually get one .. but whos in charge? how we doing it? can we really send money to fredXXX lol? We need an official statement for each side for this.

I also know that as the number of tabs grow, the funds required to get a new one will also grow. From other games with similar implementations I also know that SOMEONE HAS TO CLEAN THE HOUSE ALICE! and each bank tab will need to have limitations and specifications as to what should be shared with your guildies .. this can be a fiasco as one man's junk is another treasure but I think a clear policy and expectation should be set .. and I strongly feel this should be mirrored tween KOS and LOS so a person, no matter what alignment, understands it without having to refer to contradictory information.

Anyway more Lace ramblings and suggestions .. dont hit me ... I might ask you out!

Invites on Republic Side

April 15 2012
Please don't think I am whining or complaining and I am just using a sampling from today, a weekend day, thus a higher pop time .. we have had 4 in the span of 4 hours looking for invites. 1 that is captain rank trying to get a toon into guild, one that was sos who the captain did get into the guild, then another trying to get alt into guild, and lastly new member inquiries.

I know that officers cannot possibly be around all the time they have lives and all that and the ones I see over exert themselves to handle as much as possible .. but of late since I been playing republic side .. there is almost never an officer on .. sure I see zeph come in at various times, and linda et al, and I know that it is completely unrealistic to expect officer coverage to be more than a few hours a day ....

What I would like to suggest is a specific recruiting/alt invite time to occur perhaps I dunno once a day on saturdays maybe once on sundays ... and maybe 2 times mid week? .... not everyone would play at these specific times of course .. but officer volunteers and a listing of those times would sure help folks get tagged ... then of course the randoms could just ask in the /kos channel and pray during any other time which is now how it is. I think this would lead to a more organized feel. I think also posting a tagging schedule on the gettin started area of this information would help some of the frustration I myself felt a couple months ago ... its hit or miss on getting tagged into a guild you really want to join.

With a scheduled tagging event .. then perhaps a "I play at odd hours how can I get tagged thread" .. I think we can get active players into the game without asking more of our officers.

While the subject was invites on republic side I am sure this would help empire side as well but I have been neglecting my account on that side .. but I am sure it may be a similar situation and if not .. well then what is that side doing different than republic? and will this help either neither or is just plain silly!

thanks
cj

PS also many times members get inquiries about folks asking about guild and ask in guild chat what to do .. since no officer what I say is direct to website tell them to go to welcome center .. then getting started .. but even having a sticky or part of welcome center saying that to train our current members on how to deal with recruits is another helpful thing we can do .. and maybe it is there somewhere and my eyes glazed over it .. so maybe a refresher pop up for guild during login for a bit would be good.

Re: Help Topic! If you have a forum error, post here!

Hey Nick, I don't know if this is part of the same problem we've been discussing about the website logging us out after a bit of time, but I have been having problems when I try to submit a long post. It also does this whenever I use the PM system. If it has taken me some time to complete the post, when I hit submit, instead of what I've typed posting, the page "blinks" and I am redirected to the forum "home page" (the page that displays after you click "forums" at the top of the page. This occurs after a fairly short time frame, like only about 5 minutes or less. The workaround I've come up with is if I think the post is going to take me some time to complete, I use notepad to type the message and then copy/paste to the forums. I thank god I have administrator privleges because I can't use smilies or quote anyone's post in notepad. Just let me know if it's something I am doing or not doing and should be. Thanks! :)

Ok, I've tried to post this 3x now and it keeps obliterating the entire long post and going back to the forum home page....Nick HELP!! I guess I'll have to use notepad and cut and paste to get this posted....

I LOVE THE UI EDITOR! :woohoo: If you had the extra quickslot bars enabled they aren't visible when you first log in after patching. But even though the tips that show as you're logging in still say to access this capability in preferences, it's no longer there. You just click on the "+" that's above the "lock" on your main bar and a command box appears. Then click on extended quickslots and everything you had before will magically appear! You don't even lose any of the abilities that were in each bar. :cheer: You open the ui editor either by pressing "esc" and selecting "open the ui editor" from the choices or again click the "+" symbol and click on "open the editor". Remember to "FREQUENTLY HIT SAVE" while you're working because you can't move to cancel the "you are away from keyboard" notification and you may find yourself being logged out due to inactivity which forces you to start ALL OVER again. I was able to make the changes I wanted on one toon's ui and then after logging into to each alt, I was able to click on that saved profile and instantly change the ui for all my toons. The only thing you can't resize or move is the chat box. But I guess I can't complain too much....

I wasn't able to check out any actual gameplay changes because by the time I finished editing the ui, re-speccing all the toons that had their points refunded because of ability changes, and updating both rosters, they were shutting things down for maintenance. At least they pushed it back by several hours because it was supposed to start at 3am my time and it didn't actually start until 7am. :cheer:

The guild banks are located across from the gtn about midway down the row. The guild registrar is in the center of the room. The access points look like the contraptions you access to put things in your ship's hold. I wasn't able to access anything though and I am hoping this just means there is some setup involved which only you can do, Zepari. I am "praying" it doesn't mean we have to purchase the base tab to even get started. :(

Thanks Van, I'm already in touch with OptimusJoe78 and his officers in Taint/Rough Trade about the possibility of a joint pride parade. I know that most of the GLBT guilds are planning their own Pride celebrations, as are we. I really just want to have a soundtrack for our own Pride and be able to offer this feature to other guilds who aren't as big, if they want to attend the parade. I'm sure we will come to an agreement on which one to use for the combined event, and that may well be Taints.

At the moment I am not sure if other guilds will be having their pride on the same weekend as us, and so if this is the case I hope to talk to the other guild leaders soon about maybe opening up invitations for all players to attend every Pride event on the Jekk'Jekk Tarr server.

Whatever happens or however we agree to co-operate, I'm just glad that the GLBT community in SW:TOR is mostly on the same server and we can even consider an event like this. It's still early days, and I'm a little afraid of tempting fate by even mentioning this, as this might not happen. Even if it doesn't we will still be holding our usual Pride events, only this year we are doing it in two games, so twice the fun! lol.

Saw this video on youtube. There's a few videos out there explaining the character "speccing" system in Guild Wars 2 but I thought this one was easy to follow and uncomplicated.

(Invalid video video code)

I think it's going to take me quite a few re-specs to find the right balance :)
