Re: Are we really accepting and inclusive?

May 01 2012
I honestly do not think ive seen that, mabye im not paying enough attention. Is it a particular group of people perhapse?

I mean, we can get kinda heated and push the edge when we are having aggressive negotiations in chat, but it seems to cool off pretty much. I just think that the majority of our topics have to deal with Homosexual Male things, as thats what alot of us are. But I can not recall any anti-feminism or hetrophobia while im online.

but honestly mate, if you see that then quash it, or grab another one of us or all of us. I dont think many of the good people would tolerate that kind of nonsense if they realized what it was.

Are we really accepting and inclusive?

May 01 2012
I first joined stonewall fleet over two years ago, because I was thrilled to find an accepting and inclusive fleet that doesn't make a habit out of using language that is disparaging against one group or another.

In the last few months tho, that seems to have changed. It's almost every day that I am on fleet chat and see something from somebody that comes across sexist, misogynistic, homocentric, or even downright offensive.

We are not a fleet for gay guys, we are a fleet for everybody, and it's simply not appropriate for us to allow all the woman hating and straight hating that goes on in fleet chat.

I find it hard to believe that I am the only one to be bothered by this. What can we do to bring things back in line with our purpose.

Taken from the homepage of our site:

Stonewall Fleet makes Gene Roddenberry's vision of a future where humans are equal and free of prejudice a reality. While our mission is to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new civilizations and to boldly go where no one has gone before, our mandate is to create a fleet to carry out this mission in a manner that respects all human rights and welcomes everyone with open arms.

Re: Purple/Orange Item Crafting Log

April 30 2012
Lace: I didn't know of any way to export the data, so I did it the hard way since I don't have a multiple monitor setup or know of any easy way...logged into each character individually, entered into my crafting screen, sorted my schematics by level, wrote all the purples/oranges down on paper, and manually entered it into Excel. If anyone knows of a convenient exporting feature, that'd be really helpful. I was just feeling a bit ambitious and wanting to let everyone know the items I can craft and hope people want them so I can feel useful to the guild. :)

ltervlet: Hehe, thanks. But crafting is an expensive hobby...my toons are BROKE! I remember when I hit 400 crafting on my first toon, Vondur. I had just reached Level 50 and getting to 400 was my next big objective (moreso than HM flashpoints, ops groups, PvP). When he finally hit 400, he was the most impoverished Darth in the galaxy -- only 6 credits in the bank (yes, that's total credits, not thousand...for a level 50). I was laughing so hard when that happened. It's kind of like my next highest character, Arion, on the Repub side. He's in line to train for Speeder 2 -- HA! Nope, not enough credits. I'll build up the money, but as I do, I level up, and I like to have better gear as I level. No Speeder 2 for me...yet. I'll probably go directly to Speeder 3 when I eventually get the funds. On some of the toons, I've had to worry about "do I have enough credits to travel to my next planet? Or do I need to farm/pvp first just so I can jump to hyperspace?"

The 20% mark seems about right to me. Seems like about 1 in every 5 or 6 items I reverse engineer gives me something (for the ones that are 20%). I'll go on hot streaks, then I'll have a couple of cold ones where it takes me several more to get the schematic I want. The 10% items, I think I've been a little behind the curve, but probably not a standard deviation out, though. Then again, this is just an impression; no data to back it up.

This looks cool but could use some advice on how you made your listing ... not on the converting excel to hmtl .. but on how you flagged what you could make on a particular toon .. did you just filter for a crafting type then export all then check off what you could do and post that .. was it that simple? cause I got so many frakking crafters one of each on basically each side with one mule toon now since legacy that is feeding the sides mats and stuff from each other side

I tried the warrior and the elementalist but must admit I did spend a fair bit of time exploring rather than fighting.

I did love the Whispers Adepts 'secret hideout' dialogues as they were quite fun. Of course a few errors had to be submitted as text really made no sense at all the way they were written. Lions arch is gorgeous.

I completely forgot to check out Lion's Arch! :pinch:

I'll have to make that a priority during the next BWE. ;)

WOW QiqJoe, it looks like you have the "purple" gear market covered. I am truly impressed with your level of crafting. I don't think I have any purples or oranges yet. I have a few lowly blues but nothing higher and I've been REing quite a bit. Somehow I think Bioware's estimate of increased yield of 20% on upgraded recipes is a bit "stretched" (for want of a better term....lol) You've had to have spent a lot of time crafting and REing back to back to have amassed such an impressive listing of purple/orange gear. :woohoo:

Re: the end

I only ended up logging on for part of the day on Saturday due to real-world commitments. Boo. Hiss.

Since I had limited time, I stuck with PVE. I didn't bother with the main questline, but opted to run amok and check out the dynamic events. I tried most of the classes for a bit (Greatsword Mesmer was a blast), but I ended up focusing primarily on the Ranger, the Guardian, and the Elementalist.

Ranger was a lot of fun. It was a little different from most "hunter" types I've played before, which created a nice bit of a learning curve. Had I more time, I would have tried out some more weapons options. I'll be focusing on the Ranger some more during the next BWE.

Guardian was awesome. Let me say that again. Awesome! I used a hammer as soon as I could, and I felt like a god. I loved combat with the Guardian. It felt like I was actually "messing sh** up" and not just swinging around a giant, featherweight, 2-handed hammer. I'll definitely be playing one at launch.

The Elementalist was everything I wanted in a magic user and more. The attunements were wonderful. The healer in me liked Water; I had fun healing some of the tougher dynamic events. I tried to push my limits with the Elementalist, switching in and out of various attunements during combat and figuring out what worked best with what. With my staff, I found myself spending a lot of time going from fire (initial dmg) to water (snare/quickie heal) to air (knockback) to fire (finish em off). I'm pretty sure the Elementalist will be my main class at launch.
(edit: I'd also like to state that if anyone loved the Druid class in WoW -- but couldn't find anything remotely similar to it in other games -- ought to give the Elementalist a whirl.)

I'd love to hear what the rest of you thought about the classes you played.

Beta weekend was a lot of fun.

Thankfully I had no lag until Sunday evening around 8pm EST. Agree about the world events or area events. They where a lot of fun to jump in and tackle and I was amazed at how helpful folks where, I would die and several would run over to help me rezz or kill the mobs beating on me. I tried pvp but at level 2 I was getting my butt handed to me. LOL

I hope they work some of the bugs out as GW2 looks like it could be a very fun game up and thru end game.

I feel the same way. During the large scale pvp the lag was insane but I still had a blast!

I hope the next weekend isn't too far away!

The servers just shut down in a blaze of lag. Champion mobs spawning everywhere.

Even with the lag and crashes when in mass fights, it was a fun! Working together in stead of kill/loot stealing. Taking part in dynamic events without the need to be at a particular point in a quest chain. People joining up without lfg spam. Reviving people without being a dedicated healer. Thank you ArenaNet for putting the multiplayer back into MMORPG.

Probably should have done this earlier in the weekend but I just created our recruitment post on the official Guild Wars 2 beta forums.

If you have beta access and wish to reply saying how much you love Stonewall, it would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey folks.

I've published my third Foundry mission, "The Mayns of Balnar Moon". Any feedback you can give would be hugely appreciated! :)

Mission title: The Mayns of Balnar Moon

First published: 22 April 2012

Now it’s time for Starfleet to return… but are the caretakers the only things waiting in the cold on Balnar Moon?

  • Takes around 60 minutes to play (depending on optional dialog)
