Re: dys4ia: a game about transgender transitioning

May 28 2012
It's not bad, but I'm with LesleyA--there are some fairly common elements of the experience of being a trans woman that were left out. For example, the game designer clearly was still talking to her family. Some of us are not so fortunate! I'm lucky that my mom does still talk to me and even considers me her daughter. My father? Not so much luck there. :(

Also, estradiol by itself generally doesn't cause breast development--that's more a function of progesterone. Estradiol does cause hair to become lighter and fainter--and this happens even with facial hair, although said hair tends to be quite coarse and dark to begin with, so one either must shave or, more usefully, undergo some sort of hair removal regimen. (I went with laser and it worked well enough that, while I still shave, what I shave isn't darkly pigmented--no more shadow! YAY!)

Ironically, in the US, the main anti-testosterone drug is also prescribed as medication for high blood pressure.

One more thing: Customs tends to seize hormones ordered outside the United States. The formulations are the same--and often the hormones are made in the same factory, just packaged and sold in different markets. But it's still dangerous because if you aren't careful you can overdose and wind up with renal failure--a fate at least one trans woman of my acquaintance has experienced.

I make bios, but I keep them so short that there's no need to scroll down. Brevity, wit, etc.

I usually create some on the fly small bio for each character. I think there were only a couple I have left blank.

I try not to get too involved with them as the times I do I usually run smack bang into the limits of it.

I usually keep it somewhat simple. Something about their ideals and goals and what led them into Starfleet or the KDF fleets.

For instance I created a Caitian who was at the Starbases where the Atrox was being built for Starfleet and it gets attacked by a KDF force trying to stop the Feds getting carriers. I avoided the classic "Sole Survivor" cliche. Having others also be rescued by Starfleet and it was the rescue and help that sees him sign up with them as well.

Most feature some reference to Sexuality. Not trying to suggest that they are actively persecuted but especially on the KDF side most races there seem like they would be pretty intolerant of anything not classed as their "norm".
This is less obvious on the Fed side although what Lore exists for stuff like Caitians suggests strong links to family and the bonds between family etc.

I have a short biography for my fed character, nothing for my KDF though. Her name is Liami Ezrana and her bio says
A Trill with an unknown past, she entered Starfleet Academy later in life and has impressed many with her calm and attentive manner.

I didn't want to commit to too much before playing her and seeing how it went, haha. I feel she's a little like a mellower Janeway, and not just because she's flying a kick-ass Intrepid-class. ;)

I wrote a short biography for my current character, Admiral Kestra Lwaxanna Litalto, but I may expand on it. I have heard that STOwiki is a good place to place longer biographies, but I also heard that it isn't being updated anymore. :(

Only played about 2 hours of KDF side, so yes, it's surprising to me.

Considering that in the regular game content, there is a KDF-side NPC in an same-sex relationship (just mentioned briefly, but still), it shouldn't be surprising at all. :)

The Voyager crew are brainwashed into taking new jobs on an industrialized planet which has a severe labour shortage, leaving only Chakotay, Kim and Neelix (who were on an away mission) and the Doctor (who, in the absence of the crew, has become the Emergency Command Hologram) to save them.

Re: west coast vs east coast servers.

May 26 2012
Yeah the east coast or west doesn't really matter at this point. But considering that the 1.3 update is going to be the start of character transfers, it might be a good idea to discuss the possibility of moving to a more active server. I'm getting a little tired of constantly searching for a heroic group and a pvp queue that never ends.

The mod stats will vary so when you are buying them compare all the ones available for your class to use. Some will have more endurance than the other main stat (in your case-strength) and some people will stack endurance by using the mods with the increased endurance which will give them higher hit points. But if you stack more strength than endurance you will do more damage than they will because that stat increases many other stats. It's all a balancing act and greatly depends on your play style. :)

I was thinking that could be it. I had a lot of purple gear on mine though. I'll have to do some research on what mods a guardian should have. I've pretty much been focusing on anything with End and str but nothing beyond that.

Ok, I must be doing something wrong. I'm at level 50, I'm just barely breaking 14k hit points and yet last night I grouped with a sage who had over 17k.

Anyone have some information or a website that can help me out on this? It's driving me crazy.
