Also, depending on your ultimate goal, something called Phonegap may be a viable option. It lets you write apps in HTML/CSS/Javascript and compile to a multitude of platforms including iOS, Android and Windows Phone. The restriction about iOS however is that it must be compile on a Mac.

Some of the function calls can be tricky (such as getting a picture from the camera) But there are tutorials and examples out there that should help. If however your goal is to actually learn coding, this isn't the option for you.

It really depends what you're trying to do.

When you say apps do you mean web-based apps? web-based for this website? Android apps? iOS apps? Windows apps?

If you want to try your hand at some coding there's a few tutorial websites out there. http://www.codecademy.com/learn is a good one with step-by-step "lessons".

I wasn't really impressed with Lion's gates rebuttal, if you can even call it that. It just basically said that we treat our homos with respect, so why are you all mad at us because we're trying to make money off this raging homophobe's book? It's the same story DC gave when it came out that Card was writing a superman story.

The fact still remains that ten percent of the money Card makes off this movie is going back to the Mormon church who will still fight against our rights, not to mention whatever moneys he decides to donate directly to hate groups like NOM. Companies like lionsgate at DC need to do a bit of research on people before they get in bed with them. And if they still decide to support bigots, they need to live with the consequences.

I have a few apps I would like to work on for Stonewall Vanguard and need some guidance as to how to go about completing these projects. Just recently started watching this! I wouldn't call it my personal favorite, but now that I've seen the first few episodes I'll more than likely watch the rest :)

See. I can see with a movie cutting things out and having your own ideas. But this was an epic book and this is a 13 or so episode TV series with a possible season 2. They could do so much and the first episode just felt flat. They changed too many things. Junior is effin hot though.

I only saw the first episode. I have 2 episodes waiting in my DVR. I don't know. The book was over a thousand pages long. They had so much material to work with. I just wasn't very happy with the first episode and the cheesy special effects with the cow and the plane. I was interested that they had a lesbian couple, one who is african american. I'll watch the episodes eventually. :-)

Seems Lionsgate, which I have liked a lot of their movies has responded with a rebuttal to Card but still does not encourage me to see the movie. There are a lot of other things I could support like I did through Kickstarter for BrideGroom and Harbinger. But also since I live in a state, the first in the south to have marriage rights voted by the people, believe that marriage rights are for everyone who have meaningful, committed relationships. I've been watching random episodes (because the AV club have been doing really great Farscape reviews the past couple of months), but skipped that ep. Although, Defiance could definitely use some Farscape-esque zaniness.

Such a strange cast.

Not sure if I can do another "women in prison" show.

In Australia we just had Wentworth, which turned out to be a pretty great remake of Prisoner/Cell Block H.

But this looks interesting. Love Kate Mulgrew, and loved Jenji Kohan's Weeds for a while there. Will have to track it down/wait for the DVDs.

I ended up liking Defiance quite a bit. Not sure whether that's due to the amount of time I've spent playing the game though.

Thought the last two episodes were quite good. Just some spoiler tagged thoughts:

Super excited that we'll get a second season.

Oh, and just a random Defiance thing I noticed the other day. Rynn is played by Tiio Horn, who also played Destiny in the compellingly awful Hemlock Grove. She was the best thing about that show, other than Landon Liboiron's bum. "Stoopid ass-birds!" :woohoo:

As I've never read the book, and Harrison Ford gives me the creeps, I wasn't planning on seeing this anyway. Might throw the cost of a ticket to a reputable charity instead.
