Yeah, even Scalia wouldn't be stupid enough to not put that genie back in the bottle and throw it into the sun. Thomas would be, though.

Someone's pushing for one in AZ, too. When I first moved there in 1998, AZ had a very live and let live attitude and reputation. Since then, though, the Mormons have been trying to exert more influence.

Even if this passes, it will not survive federal judicial review.

[petition] Overturning House Bill No. 2453 (kicking gay ppl out of kansas)

February 14 2014
"In Kansas, they are voting to decide if we count as people enough to have all of our basic rights respected. There is a bill out, you can read it here, that is so disturbing as to be vomit inducing.

It is saying, literally, if you claim religious beliefs, you can fire someone for being gay. You can retract their loans.

Kick them out of school.

Kick them out of their homes. Including foster care.

It's saying that not only do you not have any legal recourse, but if you try to bring them to court you have to pay for their legal fees. It says that despite the massive discrimination against LGBT people, they don't deserve legal protections because someone's religious views are more important then people's lives."

this petition only needs another 2000 signatures

i thought it would be something you guys would be interested in

Re: Guild Events & Missions

February 14 2014
As per my conversation with El in game last night, I've come up with a schedule to help whoever's interested with their map completion advances. Here's the link.

I chose one map for each Wednesday and Saturday until the end of May, so we'll be doing two maps each week. Until March 14 - when my classes restart- I can squeeze in as many days as we find necessary, I just don't know if there will be too many people interested during workdays.

I know Pers runs dungeons on Mondays, but since there are many members who still need to work on ascended trinkets and also on their Fractals levels, I can take another day to run them through levels 1-9, or even run those at the same Monday Pers runs hers, only with a group who needs the lower levels.

Let me know what you think.

Make space look large at last - Dev ThomastheCat reveals Field of View settings

February 13 2014
Over on Reddit's STO subreddit, UI Design Dev ThomastheCat has revealed some very interesting graphic settings for STO, which can be changed via chat commands.

These settings will alter STO's field of view, allowing you to make the game look a lot more cineastic. Especially in space objects like ESD, planets and ships will look more realistic and not like the small toy ships they are. A true change of perspective, which might enhance your enjoyment of STO.

The commands in question:

/setregionfov

can be one of the following:

CharacterCreator
Ground
Indoor
None
PvP
SectorSpace
Space
SystemMap

is 55 by default and can reach from around 20 to 80.

Examples:
/setregionfov ground 75
/setregionfov interior 75
/setregionfov space 25

A recommended setting for space is 25. Your ship will appear closer to the camera, objects in the background appear much larger - including planets! The effect is especially amazing in the Dyson Sphere Space Zones!

On ground/interior, a setting of 25 results in characters appearances sticking out much more. This setting works beautifully on smaller interiors (ESD docking bay, Defiant Interior, Q'noS). However, the lack of scale on many interiors will extremely stick out - many objects, ceilings, etc. are way too big and characters appear very tiny. Another option on ground/interior is 60 - 75, which will result in some kind of 'fish eye view'. This effect gives you a better overview of all the surroundings and is similar to games like Mass Effect.

The original post by Thomas:Changing your Field of View
The article contains some more details and even some other screenshot commands. It also contains some image examples. However, these images don't do the effect justice! Try it out ingame and be amazed, especially in space!

Secret Admirer Delivery Service & Valentine's Dances!

February 12 2014
♥Greetings All♥

As many of you may be aware, February 14th is Valentine's Day. To celebrate this day, the Stonewall Fleet Morale Department is offering it's members an opportunity to send out an anonymous valentine to other fleeties! This can consist of just a message, a gifted inventory item or both.

To take part, send an in-game mail to either Cupid@WilliamJaneway OR Cupid@Twinkle Boy; who will then send your message to the intended recipient. Your message will be sent exactly as you send it to our cupids with the exception that the recipient won't know who it was from!

Please specify the @handle of who you wish to receive your valentine in the subject line of your message to Cupid. (Example message included below)

Any attachments will also be forwarded on. Those wishing to send doffs or other non-mailable items can request to meet a Cupid to make a trade. The Cupid you trade with will in turn do the same with the intended valentine (and again it will be kept a secret).

Additionally, we have three scheduled Valentine's Dances! The first will be on Saturday February 15th at 8PM GMT and the next two will be on Sunday February 16th at 12pm GMT AND 8pm GMT. All three dances will be held on Defera in the social map. Each Dance will last approximately 45 minutes and music will be played in our TeamSpeak Music Channel. Put on your best off-duty outfit on, relax, and flirt with your fellow fleeties!! Be sure to plan ahead so that you can surprise your secret valentine at a dance! Please check the individual event details for local times.

We would love for you to take part in either or both of these fun festive events!

♥♥♥♥,
Stonewall Fleet Morale Department
