Stonewall Screenshot Challenge

May 09 2019

Dear fellow Fleeties,

First of all, on behalf of the Department of Fleet Morale, I would like to send out a huge heartfelt thank you for the active participation by so many of you in the Stonewall Screenshot Challenge! It was absolutely delightful to see the high level of collaboration, fun, and giggles that was shared between everyone. I firmly believe that in a few years’ time our wounded souls will be mended sufficiently from the extreme low number of comets per cubic lightyear that we can even laugh about the comet-hunting part.

In my previous post, I promised to share a few of the most funny, epic, or beautiful screenshots you all made… However, there are so many cool ones that it is impossible to pick just a handful to share without doing right by all the rest. The complete set of all the pictures can thus be accessed for your enjoyment here:

Without delaying the announcement of the winners any further, here are the results of the Stonewall Screenshot Challenge 2019:

Shared First Place: TedHembach and @Hippiepunk (159 points)
Both of you will receive 6 Stonewall Credits. You not just managed to gain the highest score, but you did so by beating all expectations and completing ALL of the challenges… well done, amazing!

Second Place: IMTrick (139 points)
You will receive 5 Stonewall Credits

Third Place: Yaris8 (78 points)
You will receive 4 Stonewall Credits

Fourth Place: @Kierix (45 points)
You will receive 3 Stonewall Credits

Fifth Place: @Sqweloookle (38 points)
You will receive 2 Stonewall Credits

Sixth Place: Insanefuture79 (34 points)
You will receive 1 Stonewall Credits

All the Stonewall Credits will be added to your accounts on short notice.

The prize for the most epic comet name goes to…

Insanefuture79 for the newly discovered comet “Stonewall’s Bane”!
Congratulations, you won a Master Key!

The prize for the most epic nebula name goes to…

@Yithmas for the newly discovered comet “The Mauve of Gre’thor”!
Congratulations, you won a Master Key!

The prize for the best poem goes to…

IMTrick for the following beautiful poem:

Sonnet for a Friend

The Azure Nebula has stars so blue
That I once thought that nothing could compare
To that amazing sapphire-tinted hue,
Until I saw the color of your hair.

That shade, like you, it lifts the troubled soul
Much like the cobalt ocean lifts a boat
And though your currents often shift and roll
You’re part of why this fleet remains afloat.

Though you may have a storm for every calm
A ship cannot make progress with no wind,
So I have not even the slightest qualm
In calling you a deeply cherished friend.

Though many blues there undoubtedly be,
Yours, my friend, is most admired by me.

*Pinches a tear of love and joy from my eyes and regains composure*
Truly sublime IMTrick, and you won a Ferengi D’Kora Marauder for it, congratulations!

But wait… there is more! Every participant will receive an in-game item as a token of appreciation for participating in this event. I will personally contact all the winners and other participants on how they shall collect or receive their in-game prizes.

Once again, thank you all and congratulations... even though I feel that the biggest prize here was won by the Department of Fleet Morale in the form of all your oh-so-enthusiastic participation.

Finally, a BIG thank you to @viethai and @kierix for their generous prize donations!

These are the ones I play on a regular basis...
- Star trek Online
- Destiny 2
- Overwatch
- The Division 2 (slowly getting into, but hard to play alone)

but id LOVE for others in this community to team up and possibly play as a group in such games as... Overwatch..
Sea of Thieves,
Dead by Daylight
Friday the 13th
Fallout 76
Anthem
Star trek Bridge Crew!!!

Weve done some before as a team, and we do out best to encourage more players, it would be nice to see more people join in.
Its more fun as a relaxed group/community such as ours, as there are no expectations, so if we are bad then we can all be bad together.

Thanks, @Chipz416! Had a blast collecting up all but one of my screenshots. You know what you did.

And thanks to everyone who helped me when I needed it... I'd list all the names, but there are just too many, and I'm too old and too tired to remember them all.

And, I got a lot of cool screenshots out the deal, like this one, that didn't make the final cut. :)

May'Qep Event - 5th May - Kling - O - Vision

May 06 2019
Yesterday we all heard great songs at May'Qep
Now let me remind you: there is a next step.
Upcoming sunday we'll party once more
Cause parties are what #yourovision19 is for!

There will be a quiz and themed fashion show
Just follow this link to what's there to know.
Also, you can make a guess, don't be shy,
At which countries will and will not qualify.

I'll come to the end of this post now by stating
That - irrespectible of the final rating -
I think that in Kling- just like in Eurovision
all participants are winners in the competition!

So congrats to all who were brave and stood their grounds
And filled Kling-O-Vision with very klingon sounds.

ThanQ to Kierix for being a wonderful charming host and Voleron for being an amazing photographer.
Glory to the House of Nagh reD! Qapla'!

Stonewall Meetup: Destination Star Trek Birmingham

May 06 2019
Quote by calx
Here's some tips for this convention
- tickets should be available right up to on the day they sell them for entry. these are entry tickets (and for the free talks on the day). they sell many tiers which give you some photos/autographs but they cost way too much IMHO
- it is nice to see the fans and cosplayers who dress up. some make superb efforts indeed
- note that photos and autographs with the stars are all paid extras and the costs do add up so price this up if you want to keep to a budget
- the sets are not real and are "made" so if you have an eye for realism, this isn't for you
- but it should be a nice day out to see some of the free exhibits (like some costumes from the show, props used, collectors' collections etc - all should be on the website)
- you will be able to catch the stars sitting down for their signing sessions on the main floor too.
- there should be lots of stalls selling stuff (eaglemoss, costumes n merchandise) so bring your credit cards!

the NEC is very accessible being in the centre of the UK with transport links (road, rail, air)

Destination Star Trek will also be in Germany next year I believe?

- subscribe to the emails, they might, *might* ask for volunteers nearer the time depending on whether they have got enough. So this means you can get in for free BUT you will be helping out ANY TASK and so won't actually be free (on that day) to do what you might want to. But you might end up sitting next to one of the Trek stars yourself!

There is one final tip
- just enjoy and soak up the atmosphere, and see Star Trek fans as you may never have seen them before, who have come from far and wide to be with their fellow fans and in the presence they've seen on screen. THis year will feature DISCO quite a bit I see too!
I remember my first time and smiling seeing people in uniform walking proudly through the halls. And then spotting Gul Dukat!

Great info call! But yeah I'm going to see the other fans similarly to comic con

Our First place story! by Vo'leron@Akrilon

*clears throat*
Your great-great grandfather massacred those who stood their ground;Your great grandfather ate the hearts of his enemies on the battleground;And your grandfather made a name for your house at the Battle of Ferasan;And your father abandoned all of that to become a council man.

As for you my boy, you don't know what you're ever going to do;Not a kill to your name, not even a single Klingon caribou;
No skill to maintain the honor your ancestors bestowed upon you;No lure to attract a regular mate and no great bed for them to jump into.

Your great-great grandmother, she birthed fourteen brave warriors;Your great grandmother conceived another ten - it was glorious!

And your grandmother had three as soon as she came of age;But your mother only had you because that's all she could afford, living on a governor's wage.
As for you my son, you change partners all the time;
Not a single familiar companion to stand with you during war time;But there are mornings you wake up, feeling shameful and sad;For not maintaining the honorable house, gifted to you by great grand-dad.

Your great-great grandfather wielded only the finest blade;
Your great grandfather crafted his own mek'leth out of materials that wouldn't degrade;
And your grandfather's d'k tahg struck the hearts of many Nausicaan renegades;
But your father's bat'leth earned him zero accolades.

As for you young one, the only honor for which you sometimes yearn;
Will be found in the stack of papers on the desk of the bureaucratic position that you earn;
Filing grievances from conquered races and doing them all good turns;All while tending to the needs of the subservient worlds that our real warriors have upturned.

But your great-great grandparents, they knew how to celebrate;
Your great grandparents would feast on Kolar beast with the neighbouring state;Your grandparents would sing great opera and the neighbours they would captivate;Your parents would go to the best dance clubs on Qo'noS - that's where they went on their first blind date.

As for you my friend, it's the weekend and it's time to be up-beat;
Get out from behind your desk and cancel your booking at the local holosuite;
ckily for you, some things in Klingon life refuse to change;
So dust off your kut'luch and let's go hunting for some Grishnar at the local wildlife range!

Huzzah!!  Hope you liked it!

Second place goes to GXV3@GXV3

Hello Klingons, and hello kiki... im calling from new romulas...
can i just say what a wonderful show it has been tonight, and kiki your dress looks lovely
This song is a nursery rhyme i heard when i was a child from my uncle...
it goes something like this....
my bloodshakes bring all the boys to the yard
That way, Ill never be on guard
I tie them up nice and tight
youll know it will last all night
they will scream and shudder
they will take it like no other
If they scream they will get a whip
So dont scream and thats a free tip
this is not a crime, and your not on trial
bend over baby, im gonna make you smile
By the end they will walk with a limp
they will always be my gimp
The end

Third place goes to Calscius@yaris8
A romulan is one of few words
But I shall say this

for there is no greater house
than house of Nagh reD
so Now we all go to Gareth's bed
thank you

And finally an honourable mention, Halkulath@Halish
There once was a warrior from Q'onos
Who had a lovely tight butt
I fought with him in battle
and removed his body from his foot
We fought a few more times
And eventually he won

He proceeded to chop of my foot

It was all in very good fun!

We both had lost our best foot
and we both had lovely tight butts
and together we limped into battle

hop hop, hop hop, hop hop.
When we were old and grey
We realised we were gay.
Our battles had long past
We were together at last
For each of us had one foot
but together we both had feet
THE END!

Hi all!

Just a little message to say those in the UK there is a star trek con at the NEC in Birmingham on the 25th - 27th of October, and a couple of us were going to go have a look around and then also turn it to a little meetup for stoneies!

So far me and WiredGuy are going on the Saturday to have a look around so if you want to pop down and come say hi that would be awesome!

Cal mentioned it to me last year so maybe we can see him too

If you wanted to meet up then can just discuss it on this thread or we can set up a dm or group chat about it.

Thought it would be a cool ball to throw out there for those that cant go to vegas in the uk?

If you wanted to have a look at the webpage / book tickets heres the link http://www.destinationstartrek.com

Or if you just wanted to come and go to spoons that is good too
😂

-Lots of love, Kieran
